ATTN: WHORE?
Johnny Solinger jams with Don Dokken, name drops to fans he was in Skid Row for 15 years

HOUSTON, Texas — What can be worse than an 80’s band with almost no original members other than the singer?

Or heaven forbid….one of our favorites with umm….ahh, err….just the drummer. Oy vey.

What’s worse?

We’ll tell you what’s worse.

Those horrific acoustic shows.

You know, the ones with the singer on a stool, plucking away at a (half in-tune) guitar and then having to hear heavy metal 80’s songs stripped down to campfire sing-a-longs.

Where are the Marshall stacks, pounding drums and thumping bass lines?

Don Dokken has been doing some of these, and played last Thursday November 17th at “Proof Roof Top” lounge in Houston Texas.

Don’s voice is not in the best shape, but what’s really a crime is hearing the random fans singing along. Holy shit, maybe this is why the band’s turn their amps up so loud.

Don ripped through all the expected Dokken classics but not hearing the signature George Lynch riffs makes these songs sound about as exciting as Kumbaya.

The fans seemed to enjoy Don’s performance and in-between song banter. And they even got a bonus when local Texas singer Johnny Solinger was on hand and at some point takes to the stage.

Solinger is in the crowd and engages some conversation with Don just off camera.

Then at some point Solinger is heard saying; “There’s just 1 mic Don. Are you gonna share?”

To which Dokken replies; “Yeah, I brushed my teeth.”

Dokken mumbles a bit about having whiskey breath and beer breath then adds; “Come on up Johnny. Let’s sing it together.”

As Dokken toys with his guitar Solinger walks into frame and immediately waves to the crowd. Then the Texas resident shouts out to the fans in attendance; “I’m Johnny Solinger, I live in the Woodlands, Skid Row for 15 years.”

This one liner just screams DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?

Anyway, so Johnny is on stage now, tugging on his hair and fumbling around with his hands in pockets.

The two seem to be happy and share the mic as Don performs “In My Dreams” for the excited fans.

As the duo finish the tune Don gives Solinger some props telling the crowd; “He sings better than me, John and I, we’ve been bros for years man.”

Look for Don Dokken on the road with Dokken and doing select solo only acoustic shows.
