Metal Sludge — If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again is an old saying… and it couldn’t be more fitting than to attach it to the Great White lead singer situation in recent years.

Over the weekend Great White appeared in Las Vegas at the “Cannery Casino” and introduced Brett Carlisle on lead vocals for the night.

The word is that Carlisle was substituting for an absent Andrew Freeman who is reported to have had prior commitments with the Dio tribute Last In Line that he sings for.

Brett Carlisle

Carlisle is relatively unknown to the masses, but one thing is clear, this guy can sing his ass off.

Carlisle does front a band called All Or Nothing (AON) who have been turning some heads regionally and when they’ve supported National Recording Artists but after Saturday night’s performance singing for Great White it’s safe to say this guy is officially on the radar.

Ironically, All Or Nothing are scheduled to open for Great White next month on October 16th at “Mickey’s Black Box” in Lititz Pennsylvania.

Great White have had a handful of guys that have come and gone over the years since their much publicized break-up, feud and eventually what lead to a show-down in court with their original singer Jack Russell.

Russell and the band finally settled their differences back in 2011 with the band (Mark Kendall, Michael Lardie and Audie DesBrow) securing the rights to the name Great White, while their classic era frontman now tours as Jack Russell’s Great White.

With that… the band forged on with Terry Illous (XYZ) from 2010-2018, who was let go when the band brought in Mitch Malloy 2018-2022 and eventually Andrew Freeman was enlisted earlier this year.

Now it seems Freeman’s other project may at times overlap with the Great White schedule, and for that, the band is forced to bring in a substitute.

Ironically earlier in the month Carlisle shared several Great White covers on his official Instagram, and dare we say… they sound pretty damn good.

Carlisle has also taken to social media with the following message after his weekend in Las Vegas writing: “Okay, I’ve been holding in. Time to let the cat out of the bag. I’ve been in Vegas this week to sing for Great White ???. The crowd was incredible and the guys were all such an honor to share the stage with. Thank you all for making my first time in Las Vegas something I’ll never forget. This has all felt so surreal.”

Keep an eye out watching the Great White and All Or Nothing social media outlets to see where this might go next.

In the meantime, check out some of the live clips below from Saturday night with Carlisle singing lead.
