WRECK N’ SKULL
Rock N’ Skull 2018 new promoter throwing shade at previous owner, several bands cancel

CREVE COEUR,, Illinois — No it’s not Ground Hog Day, but it’s fall and we’re doing a little report on Rock N’ Skull.

Anyone who has read Metal Sludge in the last few years, may recall past problems surrounding this festival.

The only thing more embarrassing than this year’s edition of Rock N’ Skull 2018 was last year’s Rock N’ Skull 2017.

We’re not sure you can train wreck more than last year’s talk about the big Avanti’s Dome and showing off promo with 15 bands who sold millions.

In the end, all of that was exactly as stated….just  talk.

There was no Avanti’s Dome and the event was moved to a BBQ pit.

And all those platinum bands … well they didn’t play.

This year Rock N’ Skull will be held at “Persie’s Suds N Grub” in Creve Coeur, IL.

That’s correct, this festival is proving once again to be a massive cluster of cancelations and bands pullimg out.

From the start the festival promoter listed a bucket list of favorites who were advertised to appear at the 6th Annual Rock N’ Skull.

But a lot of circumstances beyond our control stuff happened again.

Who’s left?

We’re guessing a guy taking tickets at the door and a bartender, other than that – it’s up in the air.

Sadly this will fall on the shoulders of the new promoter named Jake Force who has taken over the event since spring 2018.

Now that Rock N Skull 2018 is just days out, Force has made a statement regarding the late October multi day event.

Force wrote earlier this month: “Looking back, I should have started a new show and changed the name. I wasn’t aware of the public damage or the rep this brand or the former promoter name has.”

“Here we are a month out, the show will still be happening but we have sold less than 100 tickets per day.” added Force

Force continues with, “For the record, the former promoter helps when we ask but he doesn’t show any effort or do I believe does he really care about this show.”

The former promoter Force is referring to is Justin Murr.

Murr claims to have washed his hands of the event, but the initial plan to go forward with the 2018 event, along with bookings, lineup and available tickets for sale were put into motion by Murr.

This seems to contradict the above statement by Force which states,For the record, the former promoter helps when we ask…”

The popular website Sleazeroxx posted an article last month titled: “Sixth edition of Rock N Skull doing budget cuts with lower than expecteed ticket sales.”

However since the September 27th posting on Sleazeroxx the event has lost 2 more of its 3 headline acts, and their pre-party headliner as well.

In addition to a handful of other semi-known lower than D-list level bands. Just keeping it 100 folks!

Sadly for the fans, once again there are so many bands crossed off their recent poster, there isn’t much to read.

The only thing left to read is that silly slogan “You’re Either IN or IN the way” at the top.

Too bad most of the advertised bands are no longer… INvolved.

The event is slated for this weekend October 26th -28th 2018 along with the pre-party kickoff planned for the 25th.

One thing we do know, is the ffollowing will not be appearing: Angel featuring Punky Meadows and Frank Dimino, Crashdiet, David Reece and REECE, Wildstreet, LA Cobra, Mass, Bombay Black, Romeo Riot among others.

As of this posting the only marquee names still slated to appear are Janet Gardner of Vixen and the latetst formation of Roxy Blue.

Online fans have weighed in with comments ranging from “You can’t be serious” to a show of support.

Good luck and have fun to any and all who plan to play, attend or are involved with Rock N’ Skull 2018.

In past years the event has sold tickets through different outlets, and it appears the most recent ticket options are right here.

The link notes, “We Have a Crazy Line up this year, At a Exciting new Venue. We have had some changes made in the promotions of the event. Announcements will be made soon.”

We can’t wait for 2019, who’s with us?
