Metal Sludge — Rock fans of BulletBoys and Poison will be excited to hear about a brand new supergroup called The Rockett Mafia.

The Rockett Mafia went public in the fall of 2024 announcing the new collaboration and fans are excited as the group looks to be active in 2025.

Poison founding member and drummer Rikki Rockett has joined forces with original BulletBoys guitarist Mick Sweda.

Rockett and Sweda have enlisted Brandon Gibbs (vocals and guitars) who was also part of Rockett‘s other side-project Devil City Angels and bassist Bryan Kimes from The Hot Summers.

The guys all have a history of playing in original bands, side-projects and this will see them starting with mainly cover songs leaning towards a 70’s sound says Sweda.

Below is an excerpt from Blabbermouth that covers more related to the new project.

In a new interview with “Reckless” Rexx Ruger of Pod Scum, Mick Sweda spoke about THE ROCKETT MAFIA, his new band featuring POISON‘s Rikki Rockett on drums, Brandon Gibbs (DEVIL CITY ANGELS) on vocals and guitar, and Bryan Kimes on bass and backing vocals. Asked if THE ROCKETT MAFIA‘s initial live performances will see the quartet performing cover songs or originals, Mick, who previously played with the BULLETBOYS, said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Well, we’re starting out with covers. We’re kind of leaning toward a ’70s sort of vibe, things that that [Rikki] and I grew up with. But we’re making sure there are songs that we love and are passionate about. And we’ve got some shows booked — I think we’re playing the Whisky [A Go Go] in February of this year here in L.A., and we’ve got some fly-outs coming after that.”

He continued: “But, yeah, it’s real fun. We’re having a great time with it. The singer Brandon is coming in today, so we’re actually gonna really kind of hone in on how this is gonna be. But it’s energetic, and we’re putting our little imprint on the songs, which is something that I would insist on in any circumstance. So I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun. And that’s kind of what we wanna do — we just wanna keep it high energy and entertaining and fun and live.”

The Rockett Mafia have already booked a few shows for 2025 including an appearance at the world-famous ‘Whisky-A-Go-Go‘ on Sunset Strip in Hollywood California on February 21st 2025.
