“Basically it’s a business reason, why it hasn’t happened yet. It’s not a personal reason, there are all these stories… that they try to paint that I am a wild guy. I haven’t been in the same room… with Skid Row, since 1996.”
— Sebastian Bach
GET ON THE BUS — In a brand new interview from the Get On The Bus youtube channel, the subject is none other than Sebastian Bach.
Bach, as most know is the classic voice of Skid Row that helped propel them to multi-platinum status during the late 80’s and early 90’s but he was also fired from the group in late 1996.
Over the last near 3 decades, the band’s hardcore fan-base have been screaming for the group to reunite with Bach, and at the same time, Bach himself has also been asking for the chance to come back to front the group as well.
Now in a brand new interview with Get On The Bus, Bach is as animated as ever and admits from the first time he heard a cassette of Skid Row‘s songs, he emphatically says: “These songs are amazing.”
Bach talks about how it all happened leading up to his opportunity to work with Skid Row while he attended rock photographer Mark ‘WEISSGUY” Weiss‘ wedding in New Jersey.
At the Weiss wedding is where Bach met a guitarist by the name of Jeff Wielandt, who later became Zakk Wylde, in addition to meeting Mr. and Mrs. Bongiovi, aka Jon Bon Jovi‘s parents.
It’s been discussed at length over the years, but Bach tells it again, and in short, it seems it was a combination of the right place, right time and right people, who all happened to be connected to the New Jersey based rock band Skid Row.
But… none of the band were there, however several of their close friends and family were… and it was apparent that they all thought similarly… “This guy would be perfect for Skid Row.”
A few other important people were at this wedding including the late Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot, along with a friend of the Skid Row band named Dave Feld who later became an A&R scout for Atlantic Records.
Bach at some point settles in and gets right to the million dollar question as to why he’s not in the band right now: “Basically it’s a business reason, why it hasn’t happened yet. It’s not a personal reason, there are all these stories… that they try to paint that I am a wild guy. I haven’t been in the same room… with Skid Row, since 1996.
“So, don’t think you know, how I am, like… we’re… I don’t even remember 1996.
“The real reason is… we got pretty close to do, to doing that. To the point where, Scotti Hill even came to my house and we hung out and I wore a Skid Row t-shirt for the first time since ’96. We were going to do this, but then ah, the business got in the way of that. And I could be very specific, but umm, it’s kind of boring, but, but if that’s the reason we’re not together that’s not really the end of the world. I mean people can discuss business, you know what I mean? But right now, we’re not even, we don’t have communication, we’re all still alive.” adds Bach.
As the 25 minute interview winds down Bach ends with: “It doesn’t make sense that I can’t play with those guys (Skid Row), but as I said, it’s a business matter, and maybe some day the business can get sorted out. That is a regret, that that band broke up, yeah, that’s a regret.”
