“Now, for the 40th anniversary, I wanted to ‘Sign In Again’ with all-new recordings and a 2025 sonic take.“
— Steve Plunkett on re-recording the Autograph debut as a solo release
NEW MUSIC NEWS — The classic Autograph voice and frontman Steve Plunkett has just released a brand new 2025 version of the band’s signature song “Turn Up The Radio.”
Plunkett, 71, left Autograph for good when the band disbanded in 1989.
Now a full 40 years later, Plunkett has re-recorded and released a solo record re-making the entire Autograph “Sign In Please” debut.
The following is courtesy of Blabbermouth: “1985 was a great year for me,” reflects Plunkett today. “AUTOGRAPH released their first album and it was a hit! We toured constantly and lived the rock ‘n’ roll dream.
That album made an impact at rock radio and with the fans.
“Now, for the 40th anniversary, I wanted to ‘Sign In Again’ with all-new recordings and a 2025 sonic take. Not AUTOGRAPH — because I could never improve on that record, but a Steve Plunkett ‘solo’ version focused on the songs. I hope these new versions will make you rock again like we did back in the day. Turn it up!”

Autograph released 3 records between 1983-1989 all on RCA Records with their debut “Sign In Please” being certified Gold by the RIAA due to the strength of the band’s mega-hit “Turn Up The Radio”.
In 2013, the band relaunched with 3 of the classic era members including; Steve Lynch (Lead Guitar), Randy Rand (Bass) and Keni Richards (Drums), along with Simon Daniels (Vocals, Guitars).
However, that lineup didn’t last long as Richards fell on hard times, and the group soldiered forward with a new drummer in Marc Wieland.
The group’s classic keyboardist Steve Isham had passed away back in 2008, before the reformation started, and Plunkett essentially said ‘No thank you‘, to the band’s offer and plans to move forward in the new millennium.
More sad news for the band as their classic lineup lost a 2nd member when Richards passed away in 2017 under suspicious circumstances, and then bassist Rand died in 2022 making for a 3rd death from the band’s original 5 within a 15 year window.
Autograph also went through its fair share of legal issues when surviving classic guitarist Steve Lynch and the band’s replacement vocalist (Simon Daniels) and drummer (Marc Wieland) battled it out in the courts filing lawsuits against each other, with Lynch prevailing in the end.
Now as the 40th anniversary of their debut is here, Plunkett has released his new solo effort aptly titled; “Sign In Again” which features remakes of all classic Autograph songs from their 1985 debut.
