“He did some phenomenal records. You know, Cheap Trick… is the gold standard still to this day to me. Ah, ‘Heaven Tonight’ is one of the best records of all time, as far as I am concerned. But um, of course Tom was involved with that, (he did) Motley, he did a Poison album – poor guy – um, he did Dokken… he did some great things.”
Ric Browde on fellow Producer Tom Werman

THE WORLD WIDE WEB — A new interview has dropped from The Hair Metal Guru and this one is with Producer Ric Browde.

Browde has had an extensive career that started in the 1970’s and really took off in the 1980’s when he found himself behind the console producing several of the decades big rock acts out of Los Angeles.

Browde started out as a roadie, and ended up working in the Ted Nugent camp contributing on 7 different releases for the Motor City Madman including 3 platinum recordings; Double Live Gonzo, Scream Dream, and Intensities in 10 Cities.

Browde then found himself working with W.A.S.P. and Victory, which eventually led to him to producing and arranging Poison‘s multi-platinum debut album, Look What the Cat Dragged In.

Browde then followed that up by producing, arranging and co-writing Faster Pussycat‘s debut, and then co-writing and co-producing Joan Jett‘s return to commercial success with Up Your Alley in 1988.

According to Wikipedia: Browde recorded thirty-six albums that sold over twenty-seven million records earning eight platinum and eleven gold records.

Now, as 2026 has just kicked into gear, Browde sits down with every hair metal fan’s favorite channel, The Hair Metal Guru to discuss a lot of the aforementioned, and beyond.

Browde covers the gamut and talks about working with several of the bands and their records and others involved with these various projects (bands).

Browde also mentions other Producers including Tom Werman saying; “(He) went onto (do) amazing things. He’s just a really good human being. An incredibly… he’s just a nice man. A gentleman, and umm, he worked with some really good engineers… he had a good ear, he knew what a song was.”

Browde adds: “He did some phenomenal records.

Ric also starts the interview out by explaining his original band The Amateur Gynecologists was signed in 1973 and how 2 of his band-mates overdosed on heroin while celebrating them getting signed.

Browde explains, that he went to buy alcohol for their celebration… only to return, to find both of them dead on the couch.

He also talks about his bookWhile I’m Dead… Feed The Dog,” and his organization Wings of Rescue that helps rescue animals in need.
