“Especially when you rock, you’re going to be the poster child for this.”
— Lionel Richie on Brett Carlisle and his audition on American Idol
NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Brett Carlisle is going to Hollywood and he has the Golden Ticket to prove it.
Carlisle auditioned for American Idol and the 28 year old Alabama native nailed his first audition and all 3 Judges gave him a pass.
Carlisle has been fronting the 80’s hard rock band Great White since 2022 and he started turning heads on his very first performance with the Grammy nominated group.
Now he’s taking his talents to the American Idol stage and he did so with a few of his band-mates.
Carlise sang the Great White song “House Of Broken Love” with the band’s founder Mark Kendall (Guitar) and Michael Lardie (Piano).
The trio performed the song and received 3 thumbs up votes from Lionel Richie, Carried Underwood and Luke Bryan, which has now secured him that ever elusive Golden Ticket to go onto the next round in Hollywood.
Blabbermouth has shared the following about the audition: “Asked what his “Idol” audition was like, Brett told AL.com: “I’ve never been with that many singers at that level before in a room, and it was cool that we all got to nerd out with the time that we had in the waiting rooms and everything else. Some really, really good people, all genres.”
Kendall added: “Well, I was personally thrilled for him. But it was such a great experience [on ‘Idol’], and it was so fun. They really did a lot with us. They filmed us all doing interviews, and Brett‘s doing interviews, and it was really exciting. It was just a really fun day, long day. Like, 12 hours there from six in the morning till six at night. But it was a great experience for Brett, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We don’t want to slow him down for any opportunities or so we were happy to support that.”
American Idol auditions continue February 16th from 7-9PM (CST) on ABC.
