“I guess I really am SMF Number Two.”
— Sebastian Bach to Dee Snider during their phone chat
NEW YORK CITY, New York — Metal Sludge was one of the first to report the news that Twisted Sister was going to bring Sebastian Bach in to front the New York based group and the development is a huge story in the rock n’ roll world.
Now as a few days have passed, the buzz has hit a fever pitch with fans and industry types alike all chiming in on the former Skid Row screamer becoming the voice of Twisted Sister.
Bach himself is overjoyed and has been telling anyone within ear-shot who will listen, “I am the new singer for Twisted Sister” says the frontman.
Bach was a guest on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk on Tuesday (March 3rd) to tell the listeners about all of what has transpired and how it evolved.
THEPRP covered all of what happened on Trunk‘s live show sharing the following: “Twisted Sister (is) one of my favorite all-time bands.’ I called [Dee] and he goes, ‘SMF Number Two.’ ‘Cause he’s always called me that. I’m a sick motherfucker. I’m a sick motherfucking fan of Twisted Sister. And he’s always called me Number Two. Of course, he’s number one. And so I go, ‘Well, I guess I really am SMF Number Two.’ And then I asked him, what did the doctor say to him?
And he’s, like, ‘No problem. I’ll tell you.’ He says that he has arthritis, that his knees are going out, and he has bone on bone. And the doctor said that he should not be jumping around. And he goes, ‘Well, that’s not an option,’ ’cause he wants to do the full show moving around and stuff, and the doctor said, ‘You can’t do it.’
So he said, ‘You have my full blessing.’ He goes, ‘I love you.’ I told him I loved him, and we were, like, teary eyed. And he told me that his family was crying when he said he couldn’t do the tour. I asked him, ‘Hey, you wanna come out and jam with us?’ He goes, ‘Yeah.’ He goes, ‘Yeah.’ So maybe he’ll be at some of these gigs on stage with us. Who knows? I don’t know if that’s gonna happen or not. But it’s tough getting older — it’s tough for everybody getting older, and I’m a lot younger. [Laughs]”
Readers will recall back in 2016 when AC/DC brought in Axl Rose (Guns N’ Roses) to fill-in for Brian Johnson, but that was limited to a few short tour legs.
Now this Sebastian Bach and Twisted Sister situation feels more along the lines of the AC/DC and Axl Rose pairing… the initial information has noted limited dates with Bach… and he will keep his full solo tour plans going forward all in-tact.
Over the years we’ve watched Journey replace Steve Perry, Van Halen replace David Lee Roth (and Sammy Hagar), Skid Row replaced the aforementioned Sebastian Bach and STYX went forward without Dennis DeYoung… but all of those singers are still alive.
Unfortunately over time some bands were forced to replace their frontmen due to their passing including; Queen, Alice In Chains, Sublime, Quiet Riot, Warrant, Drowning Pool, Great White and FireHouse.
Of course this latest Twisted Sister news set Social Media on fire and the fans have spoken with an array of good, great, bad, ugly and worse.
Twisted Sister fans known as SMF‘s are all joining in with their thoughts and there is no shortage of opinion… what do you think?
