Metal Sludge — Bret Michaels of Poison has released an official statement.
Michaels took to his official IG account less than 12 hours after Metal Sludge broke the story yesterday (June 30) that Poison would be canceling their set in Nashville at Nissan Stadium on The Stadium Tour.
One of the tour’s biggest stars confirms that he in fact had what is being described as a ‘Medical Complication‘ that caused, and also lead to his ‘Hospitalization‘.
Multiple sources with ties to The Stadium Tour have told Metal Sludge that the illness was in-fact Covid, but that has not been confirmed nor denied by Michaels or the Poison camp.
However, even before the cancellation in Nashville, ironically Poison did release a statement related to Covid to their meet-and-greet fans. (see statement below)
As was shared on Blabbermouth: Earlier in the day, POISON announced that it was canceling the VIP meet-and-greet with members of the band in Nashville “due to COVID positive cases within the POISON touring party”. Not long after, it was announced that POISON was scrapping its appearance at the concert altogether.
Other rumors included Michaels having laryngitis and being severely dehydrated.
After our Metal Sludge story ran subsequent metal, rock and major news outlets picked up our buzz headline and fans were stunned, especially those in attendance in Nashville.
At some point after a rain and lightning delay, all members of Poison, except Michaels came out on stage at Nissan Stadium and made an announcement to the crowd that they would not be playing.
C.C. DeVille, Rikki Rockett and Bobby Dall informed the shocked crowd of the day’s bad news.
Michaels has battled related illness and adversity over the years and we at Metal Sludge feel confident, that this will be just another bump in the road that the singer will come out on top of.
Get well soon Bret, we’re cheering for you.
Michaels wrote: on his official Instagram: “To the incredible fan in Nashville, thank you for all your well wishes! I was truly fired up to get on stage in the Music City and perform, but due to an unforeseen medical complication & following hospitalization, it was not possible. I send my deepest apologies for being unable to rock the stage tonight!!! I’m working on being back 100% very soon and hope you rocked hard with my friends Motley/Leppard/Joan and Classless Act!!!”
