Simon Cruz quits Sweden’s glam sleaze kings Crashdiet

Facebook — According to the band’s official Facebook page singer Simon Cruz has left Crashdiet. Cruz was the band’s third singer and appeared on their last 2 releases.

Cruz joined Crashdiet in the summer of 2009 and in April 2010 the band released Generation Wild  (Gain Records), their first album with Cruz as their singer which debuted at #3 on the Swedish Album Chart.

The band also released a fourth album The Savage Playground  (Frontiers Records) in late January 2013.

Crashdiet’s original singer and leader Dave Lepard took his own life in January 2006 at the age of 25. This happened just as the band was on the rise with a worldwide deal on Universal Records.

Rest in Sleaze was released in May 2005 and peaked at #12 on the Swedish Album chart. The debut was fueled by 4 singles and heavy promotions in their native country including a cell phone commercial. It was just 8 months after the the release that Lepard hung himself in his apartment after a bout with depression.

The band eventually decided to carry on with a new frontman.

On January 22, 2007 the band announced the addition of a new vocalist, H. Olliver Twisted from Finland. The Finnish singer was born Olli Herman Kosunen.

Before joining Crashdiet Olli was a member of the group Reckless Love.  His stint in Crashdiet only lasted 18 months and Olli left the band to return to his roots and re-launch his career with Reckless Love.
