Metal Sludge — In a new social media post the BulletBoys have announced the return of original bassist and co-founder Lonnie Vencent.

Vencent, 60, has been in and out of the band 4 times ((1987–2000, 2006, 2009–2014, 2019–2022) since the band’s formation in 1987 and with this recent announcement and subsequent return, it will make for the 5th.

The band’s lead singer Marq Torien has continued to front the band and is the only constant member to be on board for the duration of the group’s near 4 decade existence.

While the Hollywood based quartet has featured all original members (on 4 separate occasions), they have had a revolving door of role players over the years with Torien leading the way.

The group’s most recent line-up included Torien (vocals & guitars), Ira Black (lead guitar), Brad Lang (bass) and Fred Aching (drums).

A post on the band’s official Instagram account on Saturday December 7th 2024 reads as follows: “3 Real Badass Mothertruckers!!! 4realreal!!!! @fredachingdrums @lonnievencent @marqtorienofficial @bulletboys. So it begins!!! 1st day of tracking for our New Album!!! It’s was a completely magical day!! So stoked to have the man who started this Band with me!!!” wrote Torien.

Torien continued; “Let me reintroduce you to .. Mr. LONNIE VENCENT!!! Who’s ready? A whirlwind of Badassery is coming your way very soon!!!! Love yall!!! Stay Frosty, Stay RaD!!! Mt.”

Torien and Aching are pictured with Vencent in the latest post.

As of this posting, an industry source has informed Metal Sludge that both Black and Lang have since quit the band in recent months.

With Torien‘s message about starting a new recording, this would mark studio record #10 for the band according to Wikipedia.

BulletBoys first broke onto the scene with their “Self Titled” debut in 1988 courtesy of Warner Brothers Records. The record featured the smash hit single “Smooth Up In Ya” which helped to push the release to be certified Gold by the RIAA.
