DAVID LEE BALD?
Foo Fighters jam night highlighted by epic David Lee Roth appearance
Los Angeles — David Lee Roth’s appearance at Saturday night’s all-star Foo Fighters concert at the L.A. Forum was still big news on Monday. Rock fans were clearly surprised and interested in the event, flocking to various media sites at the start of the work week, temporarily making David Lee Roth the No. 1 trending term on Yahoo.com this morning. When it comes to current Van Halen news, “Everybody Wants Some!”
A new video has surfaced which features birthday boy Dave Grohl’s full introduction of the legendary Van Halen singer. At nearly three hours into the concert, Dave Grohl tells the crowd:
“Now, look, I just started calling everybody I fucking knew to come out and play with us tonight. And then I started calling everyone I don’t fuckin’ know to play with us tonight. There was one guy that I’ve never played with before. He was the fucking Bucket List motherfucker, this guy. We got the Bucket List motherfucker tonight! Ladies and gentlemen… would you please welcome… LOUDLY… David Lee Roth from Van Halen!”
Billboard reported, Grohl “reached out to a few he didn’t know, and it yielded one key result: the arrival of David Lee Roth. Eliciting the loudest cheers, other than the insanely impressive brass stylings of Trombone Shorty, the Van Halen singer — sporting a Dexys Midnight Runners look with baggy jeans and a flat cap — strutted bare-chested, gyrated and kicked his way through “Panama” in what felt like the apex of an already unbelievable show.“
LA Weekly reported, “A definite highlight was David Lee Roth’s flamboyant Fighters/Van Halen convergence, playing “Panama” and “Aint Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.” Roth was charismatic ever, rocking his newly bald head and denim-covered bum as fervently as he ever shook his luscious long locks and spandex’d bod back in the day. It was smile ear-to-ear time for the band and for the crowd.
Fans not only were treated to two of the most popular VH songs, but also witnessed Roth’s newly shaved head and glimpsed his new full body traditional Japanese tattoo, which is being inked by famous tattoo artist, Horiyoshi III. Around 150 hours have gone into the tattoo so far.
