THE DIRTY DOZEN
Here is Metal Sludge’s list of 12 rockers arrested for domestic violence
With Journey drummer Deen Castronovo in the news — make that ex-drummer, at least for now — amid reports that he not only physically assaulted his wife but allegedly RAPED her, Metal Sludge gives you the dirty dozen.
These incidents are the kind of reports that do not make it to the family refrigerator wall.

What happened: In 1997, the founding drummer for Guns N’ Roses was convicted on a domestic violence charge for attacking a woman with whom he had been living, and was sentenced to four days in jail, three years of probation and mandatory drug counseling. Allen pleaded guilty was sentenced to being forced to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and 30 days of community service. (Perhaps it would have been worse had Allen had two arms!)
Now: Allen is going strong, as Def Leppard is touring this summer supported by Styx and Tesla. The band’s hit songs continue to saturate the radio.
James Brown / Godfather of Soul
What happened: Considered the godfather of rock who influenced the Rolling Stones and many other classic bands, Brown pled no contest to a domestic charge in 2004 after being accused of pushing down his wife, Tomi Rae Hynie, who used to sing for popular Hollywood all-girl band Hardly Dangerous. Brown paid a fine of $1,087. At the time of the incident, the singer was 70, and his wife was 33.
Between 1987 and 1995, Brown was arrested on four domestic assault charges against his third wife, Adrienne Rodriguez.
Now: Brown died on Christmas morning in 2006 from heart failure resulting from complications from pneumonia.
Deen Castronovo / Journey drummer
The Journey drummer was indicted Monday in Oregon on charges of assault, sexual abuse, unlawful use of a dangerous weapon and contempt of court (for violating terms of his bail for a June 14 arrest — all stemming from an incident against his wife, whom Castronovo was accused of injuring). He also was arrested for a domestic incident in 2012 against a woman.
Now: Castronovo, being held without bail, was due to appear in court today. Journey dropped him from its summer tour that began June 20 at Hollywood Bowl.
