“Towards the end, then you start going down really fast… like, where I’m like outta my mind… and like, I can’t sleep, spending money, I’m like selling all my equipment. And I’m, draining my bank account. I can laugh about it now, but it’s like, ya know, I probably went through like, the last year, when I was at my worst, I probably went through seventy thousand dollars!”
Brent Muscat

MS NEWS / APRIL 6th 2026 — Classic Faster Pussycat guitarist Brent Muscat unloads 3 solid hours of baggage on The Hair Metal Guru and to say some of this is shocking… is an understatement.

Muscat, 58, talks at length about his early years coming up in punk bands in Southern California and eventually how he joined forces with Taime Downe and Greg Steele to form the nucleus of Faster Pussycat when he was only 18 years old.

Muscat is a founding member of the Hollywood based Faster Pussycat but he hasn’t been a steady member for the last 20+ years but has had a few stints in the group including; 1985–1993, 2001–2005 and briefly in 2015.

Muscat shares a ton about the band’s history which included the good years, the bad years and plenty of ugly as well, including in-fighting with the others but he does make sure to state that as of today – it’s all love – between himself Downe, Steele and former bassist Eric Stacy too.

Muscat tells listeners about the crazy scenario that saw the band’s former drummer Mark Michals arrested for Fed-Ex‘ing heroin to a motel while on tour with Motley Crue in 1989. Muscat then details how things unfolded with Danger Danger‘s drummer (Steve West) filling in last minute and how the late Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot was hired and flown out by the band’s manager (Warren Entner) to save the day.

A few subjects that are covered will definitely come as a shock, especially when Muscat shares the dark deep details about his addiction to prescription medications, which got so bad he admits he even stole money from his own kid’s savings to pay for his habit.

Muscat is very open and shares the following with listeners: “Stuff just started getting weird… I’m running out of money and you’re like pawning your shit. Or you’re stealing from… or you’re, (pauses)… when it’s really low and you’re stealing money from your kid’s bank account, or piggy bank… that’s pathetic. I got so bad I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror.”

Muscat adds: “What kind of Dad… you know, I got to a point… (where I am like) what kind of a Father am I? Or, what am I doing? Your family is going to leave you, and divorce you. I am going to be homeless, I am going to lose everything, I am going to lose my life, I am going to go to jail… but then I started going to meetings.”

Muscat does not mince words and talks about attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings, where he learned to take responsibility for his actions and he shares a lot of very personal details related to his struggles over the years.

Muscat also talks about his past experiences working with Phil Lewis, Tracii Guns and their band L.A. Guns, whom Muscat played and toured with in 2000 and again from 2002-2003.

There are other stories as well that the former Faster Pussycat guitarist shares about his time working with the band Bubble and Share Ross of Vixen, in addition to his time in Sin City Sinners with Todd Kerns and Jason Green.

Muscat
is also proud to share with listeners that he’s now 7 years sober and counting, adding that he continues to perform with his band The Saints Of Las Vegas around his hometown of Las Vegas.

The Guru has been steady delivering quality content on the regular and this 3 hour interview with Muscat covers a ton of subjects from the guitarist’s teen years to adulthood post pandemic.
