LAS VEGAS, NevadaStacey David Blades recently appeared on the Waste Some Time with Jason Green show and shared some interesting history.

Blades was born Bryan Todd MaClachlan in Canada but moved to the U.S. after High School to pursue music.

His initial move took him to Florida, then out to Los Angeles and eventually he’s settled in Las Vegas.

Now Blades sits down as this week’s guest on Green‘s popular show, which has featured an extensive list of who’s-who from the entertainment industry in general since launching in late 2020.

The Canadian born guitarist clocks in at just under an hour in this clip and has an interesting answer when asked how it felt to join L.A. Guns – to replace Tracii Guns – with a name like Stacey Blades.

One can’t help but see the irony in the two names, but it turns out that Blades was not a rock n’ roll pka picked out by the guitarist, but rather it was a Grade School class-mate who nick-named him years before he even knew Guns or his band existed.

Blades says: “For some bizarre reason in 3rd Grade I refused to use scissors…then some kid started calling me Blades, and it just sort of stuck.”

Blades does acknowledge in the interview that at some point it became frustrating living in someone’s shadow – and we’re guessing that was in reference to Tracii Guns.

Blades was a member of L.A. Guns with Phil Lewis and the late Steve Riley from 2004-2012 which was a much longer stint than most members stayed in that band.

He was also involved with recording several of the band’s releases including; Studio albums: Rips the Covers Off (2004), Tales from the Strip (2005) and Hollywood Forever (2012). Live releases: Loud & Dangerous: Live from Hollywood (2006) and Live in Concert (2013). Other releases: Covered in Guns (2010).

Blades started out with a local band called Fraidy Katt, which was followed by a stint in Roxx Gang after moving to Florida before moving West which then found him joining the aforementioned L.A. Guns in 2004.

Blades also covers some of his history post L.A. Guns which included a few projects including his Let It Rawk (80’s Tribute), Electric Radio Kings and Crashing Wayward.

In recent months Blades has worked with Lorraine Lewis (Femme Fatale) and just recently he joined The Rockett Mafia with Rikki Rockett of Poison.

Back on February 2nd The Rockett Mafia‘s official Facebook page shared the following message: “Please welcome Stacey Blades to the Mafia. We look forward to his awesome playing and presence this upcoming season!”
