HOLLYWOOD, California — Right on time to celebrate the 15th Anniversary since the release of their final studio recording Vains Of Jenna “The Art Of Telling Lies” is ready for your turntable.
The former Hollywood based rockers Vains Of Jenna have officially gone vinyl!
You read that right, the wait is over.
RLS Records is giving Vains Of Jenna “The Art Of Telling Lies” a full make-over and re-release… but this time it’s coming to you on a limited edition 12″ platter of wax.
Vains Of Jenna first formed on New Year’s Eve of 2004 in Falkenberg Sweden but as their fans know, they made their mark on the Sunset Strip in the mid 2000’s.
The band started out with Lizzy DeVine (Vocals & Guitars – age 23), JP White (Bass – age 21) and a pair of 18 year old High School students in Nicki Kin (Lead Guitar) and Jacki Stone (Drums).
Vains Of Jenna played a few local gigs in their native homeland in early 2005 but within months found themselves on stage at the world-famous Whisky-A-Go-Go in Hollywood where they were booked to appear at the annual Cruefest.
Just 4 days after the Whisky gig the band was recording with Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses) at his Redrum Studios tracking songs that would appear on their independent debut “The Demos”.
The following year the band spent a month in England and by that summer Vains Of Jenna relocated to California becoming part of a movement that saw a host of Scandinavian bands rise to a level that fans and the industry alike took notice of.
The summer of 2006 saw Vains Of Jenna tearing up the Southern California circuit gigging at the Whisky-A-Go-Go, Viper Room, Roxy Theatre, The Joint, Knitting Factory and Key Club.
The band was on fire and hitting on all cylinders to a level that hadn’t been seen on the Sunset Strip since its hey-day.
A meeting orchestrated by manager Stevie Rachelle and legendary rock photographer Mark “WEISSGUY” Weiss at the House Of Blues found the band hanging out at former RIP magazine editor Lonn Friend‘s private party.
That night’s party was strewn with rockers and various celebrities which also included Jackass and MTV reality star Bam Margera.
That night with Margera helped the band to realize an opportunity when the skateboard super-star requested to see them live, and ultimately signed them to his new record label just a week later.
Margera in fact offered to sign Vains Of Jenna just minutes into their set at the Sunset Strip watering hole known as the Cat Club.
In the late summer of 2006 the Swedes found their way to the East Coast for a short tour with The Erotics and Teenage Casket Company which ended with the group shooting their debut video “Noone’s Gonna Do It For You” at Castle Bam in West Chester Pennsylvania.
The video was Directed by Margera himself for the album “Lit Up Let Down” (Filthy Note/Fontana) which helped kick-start the group into another gear.
The Swedish newbies were the added to the Hot Topic sponsored Triple Threat tour with Fireball Ministry and Artimus Pyledriver in the fall of 2006 to support their official debut on Margera‘s label.
The year 2007 brought more of the same, as Vains Of Jenna did 3 full U.S. tours starting with Wednesday 13 (Murderdolls) and Dizzy Reed’s Hookers & Blow (Guns N’ Roses) in the spring, then a summer run supporting Poison and Ratt and a fall trek on the Viva La Bands tour with Cradle Of Filth, G.W.A.R. and CKY.
In 2007 alone Vains Of Jenna played over 120 concerts across North America.
What transpired over a 5 year window for these 4 rock n’ roll youngsters from a small town in Sweden is what dreams are made of.
The band signed record deals, appeared on MTV, toured in busses, appeared in magazines, enjoyed endorsements and shared the stage with rock royalty around the globe.
This is more than any musician could wish for, and they did all of it when they were barely old enough to drink… matter of fact, it wasn’t until the spring of 2007, that half the group (Kin and Stone) turned 21 and were officially legal to even enter a bar in America.
By the start of 2009 the band were recording their 3rd record with Producer Brent Woods at Stakehouse Studios in North Hollywood California and the creative juices were flowing.
The results were a break-out single in “Enemy In Me” and the full-length record “The Art of Telling Lies” that dropped in the fall of 2009 via Raw Noise / RLS Records.
Vains Of Jenna hit the pavement yet again for another coast to coast U.S. tour in support of “The Art Of Telling Lies” playing upwards of 50 shows.
The band released 3 video singles including; “Get It On”, “Mind Pollution” and “Enemy In Me”.
By the spring of 2010 the group had returned from more touring and capped it off with a few Southern California shows supporting Michael Monroe (Hanoi Rocks).
But like all good things, they must end… or implode and crash.
The Swedish flame that once burned so brightly had begun to fade and the band was truly getting burned out… eventually that fire was officially extinguished when the band called it quits.
Now, 15 years later RLS Records is celebrating this awesome recording by re-mastering it, and re-issuing it… only this time, it’s coming to you as a Vinyl LP.
Your options are the traditional Black vinyl or a Red vinyl option.
The cover artwork is identical to the original CD version, but it looks even more amazing on a full-size LP jacket… this release also includes a 2 page / full color insert with images and credits.
This is a short-run Limited Edition pressing, so order yours today before they sell-out.
The first 50 orders will also receive a pair of full-color 8×10 promos (pictured below).

What people said about Vains Of Jenna “The Art Of Telling Lies” when it was released in 2009!
Metal Sucks wrote in 2009: “VAINS OF JENNA’S THE ART OF TELLING LIES IS THE BEST ALBUM OF ITS KIND SINCE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES’ BEAUTIFUL CREATURES.”
Rock Eyez wrote a review in 2009: “Pick this CD up right away. Go anywhere and get, steal it if you have to just get it. It’s the best release of the year!!!!”
Metal Underground wrote in October of 2009: “The truth about Vains Of Jenna’s ‘The Art Of Telling Lies’ is that it’s a good glam metal record, owing a definite debt to GNR, Crue and all the other heyday of hair metal bands of the 1980s.”
Bring Back Glam wrote in October 2009: “When Vains of Jenna released The Art of Telling Lies (RLS/Raw Noize) last month, I was cautiously optimistic. I’m a big fan of the band and their debut Lit Up/Let Down. Would The Art of Telling Lies measure up? Yeah. It’s amazing. Actually, it’s my favorite album of the year so far.”
Sleazeroxx published a review in October 2009: “It’s not often that I do reviews, so if I’m writing this I’m pretty blown away. Such is the case with Vains Of Jenna‘s new release The Art Of Telling Lies. If ever their eclectic influences were apparent, it is now. With songs ranging from funky to blues to ballsy to just plain hard rocking, there is something here for everybody. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the band’s first CD but this album is more polished as it was produced by Brent Woods, who did an amazing job.”
Sputnik Music wrote a review in late 2009: “Enemy In Me – The single Enemy In Me was featured on Bam Margera’s CD Viva la Bands, Volume 2 which was released on September 4, 2007. Its a fabolous song and one of the best songs on the cd. Great lyrics and great solo.”
