RED DRAGON CAMELTOE!
SHAWN CROSBY finishes RED DRAGON CARTEL July tour run, but not sure he’s the guy
Rock N’ Roll Experience — Jake E. Lee and his Red Dragon Cartel made a return to the Maryland area on July 23rd and this version featured the bands 5th lead singer.
New singer Shawn Crosby is the perfect fit for the band, he brings back the old school Ray Gillen vibe and much of the set was a bit bluesier than before.
I chatted with Shawn before the show and he told me that if he had his way the set would be all Badlands material because that’s his favorite stuff to sing in the show.
Set wise the band played an 11 song set which lasted just around 90 minutes. The reality is that this version of Red Dragon Cartel is much better than the previous line up. The only sad part of this show was the very low turn out which was due in part to it being a Thursday night.

The current Red Dragon Cartel singer Shawn Crosby also recently did a video interview with Bob Suehs of Rock N’ Roll Experience while the band was in Baltimore on the above mentioned tour stop.
Early in the video clip Crosby is asked if he’s the permanent singer for Red Dragon Cartel and respectfully answers with: “I don’t know, we’ll see.”
Crosby also talks about his friendship with the late Ray Gillen back in the day.
Crosby even posted a letter on his official Facebook that was written to him from Ray. Crosby recently found the letter in storage and posted it online. (See below)
Metal Sludge first reported HERE as a rumor that Crosby was being looked at as a possible addition to Red Dragon Cartel back on June 24th 2015. In a few days time it was confirmed that Crosby was given the microphone (so to speak) for the band’s July tour run.
Metal Sludge reported HERE on July 12th with a review of their initial weekend run of shows. It appeared that several fans were excited with the addition of Crosby and many drawing continued comparisons to the late Ray Gillen (Badlands).
All seemingly ironic and a bit eerie. Especially considering Crosby had a friendship with Gillen, and simultaneously the unearthing of the hand written letter a short time before getting the call to step in as Jake’s newest singer.
When asked about working with Jake E Lee, Crosby says: “Jake is amazing. He’s a quiet guy, keeps to himself. Amazing person. The whole band is almost like a family.”
