Metal Sludge — In a new JIZZO CHATS episode on JPearlTv, lead singer Jizzy Pearl talks with former band-mate and long-time Ratt bassist Robbie Crane.
Crane who like Pearl grew up in Southern California talk about an array of subjects including their history on the Sunset Strip.
The guys talk in depth about how their time in Ratt started and ended, and what happened along the way as they were both substitutes in the group.
Ironically the pair also shared time in Adler’s Appetite with former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, which was at some point early on called Suki Jones.
Crane also talks about his time playing with the Vince Neil Band and more recently filling in for Jerry Dixon with Warrant and Black Star Riders.
Pearl asks Crane point blank about the “500 pound elephant in the room” referring to Jerry Dixon not playing in Warrant, and Crane acting as his sub over the last few years.
Crane says: “Jerry (Dixon) just reached out to me, pre-pandemic, and then post, and amid the pandemic and was just, you know he was entertaining the idea of taking some time off, he’s been doing Warrant for 35 years.”
“So he asked me if I would sub some shows for him. So, I did 1 show for him in 2019, and then um, I picked up in June of 2020, ahh, or was it, it was 2021. I’ve just been sub’ing for him, I take it like week to week, day to day.” added Crane.
They also touch on subjects related to the various tours and share memories, laughs, along with some good and not so good times as well.
The cast of characters covered is long and winding with mentions of L.A. Guns, Poison, Dio, Skid Row, Van Halen and Motley Crue.
Crane recently filled in for Rachel Bolan in Skid Row when Bolan fell ill with appendicitis.
Oddly, that same night, Crane was also playing with Warrant who was the opener on the Skid Row show, so Crane pulled double-duty.
There is even mentions of some local bands, like the Glamour Punks, Jones Street and even Pearl’s band Data Clan (before they morphed into Love/Hate).
