LOS ANGELES, California — It is with a heavy heart that we report that rock drummer Ace Finchum has died.

The classic era TigerTailz drummer passed away over the weekend according to former band-mate Steevi Jaimz.

Jaimz took to his official Facebook this morning writing the following message: “I know many of you really cared for Ace, and I am sorry to be the bearer of tragic, heart-breaking news… But sadly. Ace passed away at the weekend. Thoughts and prayers to Danny, Rob, Donna and Scott.”

Metal Sludge reached out to Jaimz who confirmed his friend’s passing, and added that Finchum‘s brother didn’t have the heart to break the news, so Jaimz elected to do so for his long time band-mate and friend.

Sadly, Finchum last posted on his Facebook wall on Saturday October 4th, in the early evening, and his message was the following: “I wish all my friends a great weekend! I don’t know if I will come back as I hoped I would. Times are hard and I’m trying to hold on!”

Finchum was part of the classic TigerTailz lineup that burst onto the scene in London England in the mid 1980’s, along with Jaimz (vocals) Pepsi Tate (bass) and Jay Pepper (guitars).

Sadly, the band have now lost 2 of their classic lineup, as Tate succumbed to cancer back in September of 2007.

Finchum was living in the U.S. and was active on social media in recent years, but hadn’t played much in the way of live performances for some period.

Ace Finchum was 62.

Metal Sludge sends our condolences to all of Ace‘s family, friends, band-mates and fans.
