Metal Sludge — Hitting the wire now is some very sad news in the world of music.

Jeff Beck has passed away at age 78.

The site Noize 11 has just reported the guitar icon’s passing within the last few minutes.

An official statement reads: “On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.”
