Pants Of Fire — Former VAN HALEN singer SAMMY HAGAR has called EDDIE VAN HALEN “A liar” in a recent online video statement found on the artist’s official Youtube account. The Red Rocker boldly points at the camera and says: “Fuck You Eddie Van Halen for saying that about Mikey (Anthony). You’re a liar.”

HAGAR is responding to a recent interview VAN HALEN did with Billboard.com where the legendary guitarist took several pot shots at his former bassist MICHAEL ANTHONY.

EDDIE claims ANTHONY did not always know or remember his parts and that he had to show him the bass lines before each tour. “Every note Mike (Anthony) ever played, I had to show him how to play. Before we’d go on tour, he’d come over with a video camera and I’d have to show him how to play all the parts” says VAN HALEN.

EDDIE also goes off on ANTHONY’s voice, which many die hard VAN HALEN fans argue is a important part of the band’s sound. Fans and fellow musicians have always believed ANTHONY was key in the band’s background vocals in studio and live.

VAN HALEN adds: “Mike’s voice is like a piccolo trumpet. But he’s not a singer. He just has a range from hell,” ED then said. “Mike was just born with a very high voice. I have more soul as a singer than he does. And you know, people always talk about Mike’s voice on VAN HALEN songs, but that’s a blend of Mike’s voice and my voice. It’s not just him.”

After his bold video statement HAGAR then pauses and says: “Okay, we’re done. Now I’m pissed…I am pissed man. I am so pissed about that. Asshole.”

Just before the camera cuts off HAGAR adds: “Michael Anthony is the greatest guy on the fucking planet.”
