LOS ANGELES – California — Only in Southern California does something this crazy and bizarre happen!

What started out as a hit-and-run traffic accident (possibly preceded by a high-speed chase) with 3 suspects crashing their car on a Los Angeles area freeway… lead to the threesome making a run for it.

Authorities arrived on the scene and started their ground-search for the 3 at-large suspects, but this is where it took a crazy turn.

The suspects ran into a Eagle Rock neighborhood just east of Los Angeles off the 134 freeway and seemingly split from each other, with 1 of the men stripping off his clothes down to his briefs, and subsequently acting like he was swimming in some random backyard pool.

It is believed that the ‘swimming suspect’ was trying to blend in and act nonchalant as he checked his cell phone and watered plants in a backyard with a helicopter overhead.

Meanwhile, the other 2 are believed to have taken cover in one of the neighboring yards as police began to search the area.

As this unfolded, a resident later identified as Weezer bassist Scott Shriner‘s wife Jillian Shriner exited her home with a handgun to confront the on-the-run suspects.

At this point, according to LAPD, officers confronted Jillian and instructed her to drop her weapon, she apparently refused and began to shoot at the officers.

One can only assume, she thought the officers (who were initially behind a fence) were the suspects, but she was unfortunately wrong, continued to shoot, and the officers returned fire striking her in the shoulder.

Upon being struck, Jillian retreated back into her home with gun in hand.

The N.Y. Post writes: “While the LAPD confirms that the musician’s wife was hit by the gunfire, TMZ reports she was struck in the shoulder.

Cops said Jillian retreated into her residence after being struck — but later came outside with another female identified as the family’s babysitter and was taken into custody.

The self-described rock-wife was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, where she was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police also disclosed they recovered a 9-millimeter handgun from her home.”

More from the N.Y. Post article states: “Jillian has since been booked for attempted murder.

LAPD also shared that no officers or any of the community members were hurt during the shootout and confirmed that Jillian was not involved in the earlier hit-and-run.

KTLA reports that Jillian and the other woman have been released from police custody.”
