YOUTUBE — Who is ready for a reunion with an 80’s hair metal band who hasn’t been seen or heard from in more than 30 years?

Well… if so… then read on.

The Session Solos youtube channel features interviews with mainly guitar players and their latest, Episode 13 is with somewhat of a rock n’ roll unicorn if you will.

The die-hard hair metal fanboys of the world will be excited to hear that Harry Cody of Shotgun Messiah is the channel’s most recent interview which is a full 90+ minutes.

To our knowledge, this might be one of the very first interviews Cody has done in years, decades even… and some are saying more than 30 years.

Cody, 62, talks in depth about the history of the Swedish band and their history, various formations and recordings from the past and perhaps… maybe even the future.

Shotgun Messiah formed 40 years ago in 1985 under the name Kingpin but changed their name when they became aware of a San Francisco based group with the same name.

And like a lot of bands at the time, they started out very ‘image heavy’ and to this day their Kingpin photos still in circulation are sure to bring a smirk, smile or a gasp for any of us looking back… however, there is no doubt that Cody‘s guitar skills and the band’s bad-ass street sound and look hit a rock n’ roll nerve that rivaled any of the the up n’ comers back in the day.

Shotgun Messiah eventually released 3 albums and 1 E.P. all on Relativity Records between 1989 and 1993.

Now after 30+ years, the word is… there is a chance… that we might see or hear from Shotgun Messiah again!

We checked out the latest interview with Session Solos and while there is plenty to learn from Cody‘s recent interview, the stand out segment is when host Chase Kuesel asks the guitar guru if there is any way in hell that Shotgun Messiah might record, release music and wait for it… reunite and go on tour!

Kingpin circa mid 1980’s

Cody answered with (as transcribed by Metal Sludge): “Yes… multiples times over the years and I’ve come around on the touring part. If things were to come together, today… I would gladly go out and tour. Just ah, I think the public response over the years, the fact that it doesn’t wane… the fact that people are saying such things, makes me want to do it.

“So, Tim (Skold) and I have actually been recording most of an album. We have pretty much an entire Shotgun Messiah album in the can and we’d both be willing to do it. But then there is a whole lot of infrastructure that’s not in place, to make that happen yet… so we’ll have to see what happens, but ah, if it doesn’t happen, it’s not because Tim and I didn’t want it to. We’ve had the talks, we’ve… ya know.. we talk regularly.

“And ah, I’ve also been recording songs with Zinny Zan, the singer from the first album. He contacted me and said; ‘Would you be interested in doing something?’, and after a couple of decades of me wanting to punch him in the nose, if I ever met him again, I thought to myself, that’s just counter-productive. Why don’t we ya know, put differences aside and see what there is, so we’ve been recording songs too and it’s been a lot of fun, so we’ll see what happens with either of those 2 projects.” says Cody.

Cody adds; “I am trying to make something happen to get myself out there again.”
