“Motley got smoked by RATT in 84. They’ve avoided playing with us ever since that. They might have the flamethrowers and all the canned tracks and such, but they don’t have the chops to face off with RATT. Sorry.” — Bobby Blotzer
Metal Sludge — This same subject was headlines a few months back, and it seems that former Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer is doubling-down on his previous comments.
Those comments were, that Ratt crushes Mötley Crüe musically.
Back in early May of this year Blotzer was quoted as saying how “Ratt always crushed Mötley musically” while he was a guest on the This, That & The Other podcast and radio show.
Blotzer was being interviewed by TT&TO host Troy Patrick Farrell where he spoke out on a slew of subjects, including the Ratt versus Mötley Crüe comparison that turned into headlines on rock sites all over the web.
Blotzer was asked about Mötley Crüe on TT&TO and replied with: “Ratt’s always crushed Motley musically. They got more press, movie stars, explicit sex, murders and shit. Always in the magazines.”
Metal Sludge covered this in our article “MAKING FRIENDS … Bobby Blotzer blasts Mötley Crüe & Beau Hill: “Ratt always crushed Mötley musically”, “Blow Hill is disliked by everybody”.
Soon after the “Ratt’s always crushed Motley musically” quote hit the web, Blotzer quickly back-peddled and put out what he called a disclaimer, and then expressed frustration with how websites run quotes that are not seemingly in full context.
Well… so much for that disclaimer, as Blotzer is saying basically the same thing again, only he’s using the word smoked instead of crushed.
A fan named Michael asked Blotzer in a Facebook thread over the weekend about whether there was a chance Ratt would play with Mötley Crüe on their rumored run of stadium dates in 2024.
Michael asked the former Ratt drummer the following: “So rumor mill is that Motley are trying to plan yet another stadium tour for next year. Got to imagine the Leps won’t be part of it. Maybe Poison steps back in… thinking a Ratt reunion might fit well into that bill. Any shot at all?”
Blotzer answered with: “Motley got smoked by RATT in 84. They’ve avoided playing with us ever since that. They might have the flamethrowers and all the canned tracks and such, but they don’t have the chops to face off with RATT. Sorry.”
Blotzer then continued, with what appears to be a challenge sent to Mötley Crüe.
“I’m down. And I would say on that, IF you want to do something different, Mötley let’s go song for song you guys set up on one side of the stage completely live and let us have the other side of the stage! And then we go song 4 song back-and-forth through the set let’s see what happens!!??” wrote Blotzer.
We’ll patiently await the next disclaimer.
