SUNSET RIP
Lemmy memorial on the Sunset Strip at The Rainbow Bar & Grill
Hollywood — Regarded as a legend throughout the world’s music industry it’s Lemmy’s home away from home that will be holding his memorial later this week.
Kilmister was 70 for only 4 days when he passed in his sleep on December 28th.
Now the Rainbow Bar & Grill will be remembering the Motorhead frontman on Saturday January 9th 2016 along with anyone who wants to show up.
The bar expects such a huge overflow of people that both The Roxy Theatre and The Whisky-A-Go-Go will also be part of the events.
The Rainbow Bar & Grill is world famous along with the man they are remembering. This venue is packed almost nightly and they’ve included 2 other world famous venues to help hold the crowd.
Lemmy talks about The Rainbow Bar & Grill in youtube videos (linked below).
“I first came here in 1973. A year after it opened. I saw the glory days of this place.” – Lemmy
Tequila TV interviewing Lemmy in 2008 asks, “How were they?” about those glory days; “Oh nuts. Keith Moon ya know. (John) Lennon (The Beatles) was in here for 6 months, in here every day. Alot of people, Jimmy Page, all of Led Zepplin. Good times ya know. Before everybody started dying. So there ya go, survival of the fittest.” – Lemmy
For anyone who’s not local, to put it in perspective, The Rainbow Bar & Grill and The Roxy share a parking lot.
If you’re a good spitter, you could spit on the Roxy from the patio of the Rainbow. And the Whisky is a little over a football field down the side-walk, on the same side of Sunset Strip.
Like these clubs that will hold his memorial, Lemmy is world famous. And so famous, that he really doesn’t even need a last name does he.
Lemmy is like Elvis, Prince or Sting.
Only 100 times dirtier than all of them combined, and he would like it that way.
Lemmy was such a good dude and a straight shooter. Check out the clips below of some candid interviews, all of which were filmed at you guessed it – The Rainbow Bar & Grill.
See everyone Saturday January 9th 2016 on the Sunset Strip to remember a legend.
