“Unfortunately, we have to announce that Stryper, who was supposed to play tomorrow at Sweden Rock Festival, is forced to cancel his gig due to unforeseen logistics problems.”
— Sweden RockCONCERT NEWS — The rock band Stryper have cancelled their appearance at the annual Sweden Rock Festival after their flight was forced to return the U.S. midway en-route to Sölvesborg Sweden.
The band took to their official Instagram on early Wednesday June 4th and left a message for fans stating they were not going to make it to their scheduled show on Thursday June 5th.
The group’s leader Michael Sweet (Vocals & Guitars) spoke to fans and followers along with brother Robert Sweet (Drums), Oz Fox (Guitars) and Perry Richardson (Bass) from a Hotel stairwell explaining their dilemma. (see video below)
Stryper had already left U.S. air-space and appeared to be a few thousand miles into their journey when their flight encountered problems forcing it to return to Boston.
The band released and shared the following statement below:
“We regret to announce that STRYPER will be unable to perform at Sweden Rock Festival this year.
“Midway through our flight to Copenhagen last night, a malfunctioning smoke detector system and power failure, forced the plane to return to the U.S., preventing us from making the trip.
“We’re deeply disappointed. We were truly looking forward to returning to Sweden. To all our fans, friends, and fellow bands at the festival, we wish you an incredible weekend and hope to see you again soon.
“God bless, STRYPER“.
Sweden Rock have also announced the cancellation and stated they were looking to find a replacement band.
