NOT TOP 10
Donnie Vie: “My Mother is in the Top 10 of My Least Favorite People. She is Way Up There.”

Metal Sludge — In a series of recent interviews, former Enuff Z’Nuff singer Donnie Vie is speaking out.

The singer/song-writer has been very vocal about a lot of things from his past and what’s happening in the present.

Vie swears he’s sober and keeps saying he’s delivering a positive message.

But sadly the positive message falls flat when early on in a brand new interview that finds the singer speaking about his dislike towards his own Mother.

“And my mother, she is in the top 10 of my least favourite people, she is way up there.” says Vie

Vie, 51, has recently released a new solo album titled “Beautiful Things” and has been on a tear doing lots of press and per-usual, he is speaking his mind with little to no filter.

In talking with Music Life Magazine Vie is excited about his new CD and is most happy that he has full control over all aspects of the project.

“I never liked any of the Enuff Z’Nuff covers. I think they all suck. I had nothing to do with them. They were all done after the fact and by the time I knew what was going on, the CD was in my had and I am stuck with it.” says a disgruntled sounding Vie looking back at his time with Enuff  Z’Nuff.

Vie stresses he’s healthy, happier and spreading positivity after spending time in a Cook County Illinois jail.

But even after acknowledging doing-time, Vie seems to have passed the buck with blame being pinned on a family member.

In the quoted article/interview where Vie talks about his Mother being a Top 10 least favorite person, writer Jim Barber prefaces his interview by writing: “The details of the crime for which Vie (real name Donald Edwin Vandevelde) was jailed are more to do with family issues and him essentially taking the fall for a sibling.”

Vie was quoted previously in our July 22nd Metal Sludge article “WOE IS ME” saying: “ It was a warrant for something I didn’t even do.  I ended up getting thrown under the bus by my sister, but she just had a new baby and stuff, so…I took a bullet for her.”

Vie continues his ranting answers with: Depression and a shitty girlfriend are the perfect formula for writing great songs and power ballads and this and that. I had one shitty girlfriend after another and then a wife that just outdid them all.”

But it doesn’t stop there with negative thoughs, and negative answers.

When the subject of playing live is talked about, Vie reacts with: “I am not touring in the sense of going on a bus and playing good shows and then filling in the rest of the calendar with shitty little low-paying shows in crappy clubs, that barely pay enough for the gas for the bus.”

The interview is intersting for sure, especially when the headlines read: “A Healthier, Happier Donnie Vie Promotes Positivity on New Solo LP “Beautiful Things”.

You’d think the message might be more positive and less of… “Sh!?ty girlfriends”,  “They all sucked”, “Crappy clubs” and “My Mother is one of my Top 10 Least favourite people.”

Some things never change, maybe it’s time for Donnie Vie to go back to getting high on “New Thing” right where he belongs.
