June 8th 2026 — The years have flown by, the scene has evolved and the streets of Hollywood California still bore (most of) the same names… but it will never be the same club scene again…

At least not like it once was.

However, there is a glimpse into the history books quite literally, that will bring you back to 1976 along with the rest of the late ’70s and through 1986.

A new book titled ‘HOLLYWOOD SCENESTERS 1976-1986‘ will take you back a half century ago and share with you who the main players, musicians, porn stars, actors, promoters and industry types were that all encompassed a full decade of Hollywood history between 1976 and 1986.

This new 150 page full-color glossy book is brought to us by SCRATCH magazine and Ruben Blue, who most will recall his name as being the founder and editor of ROCK CITY NEWS.

Blue was also the founder and editor of SCRATCH that launched in 1983 to cover the underground club scene that covered venues on Sunset Strip, Hollywood Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue along with select venues across other parts of Los Angeles’ sprawling suburbs.

Blue then evolved his publication branding it into L.A. Rocks in 1986 and eventually Rock City News in 1987… now many decades later he has unearthed some amazing images and information that he’s sharing in this new book series.

This new book has over 700 stars listed with a short bio included and the best part about this book, is it’s essentially Volume #1, with Volume #2 already in production that will cover 1986-1996 and include more than 800 stars. (see the covers below)

Hollywood, Los Angeles and Southern California in general has been a huge part of entertainment as a whole helping to nurture so much that became globally recognized all from a starting point focused around Tinseltown.

Here’s your chance to own a copy and look back at the who’s-who of Hollywood back in their younger years when these scenesters were just getting their feet wet.

Amazon Description of ‘HOLLYWOOD SCENESTERS A Who’s Who Historical Yearbook 1976-1986

This book is a Who’s Who of SCRATCH Celebrities. The characters in this book are high-profile people in the Hollywood underground rock scene from 1976 to 1986. They are mostly those who appeared on the pages of SCRATCH Magazine, a weekly Hollywood fanzine that celebrated local bands, artists, and other characters who were prominent on the scene. They are displayed inside in alphabetical order, with a photo and bio. Most of the photos were taken by SCRATCH Publisher Ruben Blue as he navigated the clubs and parties in Hollywood. Many of the bios contain personal insights by Ruben, as well. The Hollywood nightclub and party scene was big in the early 80s, so compiling this list of “scenesters” was a considerable effort. This book is a historical remembrance of the characters who dominated the Hollywood music scene at the time. These characters are also the main content of other books by Ruben Blue under the book series called When Hollywood Rocked.
