Metal Sludge — Well, this is a first.
Tracii Guns of L.A. Guns has just posted that he cannot play on stage for tonight’s show at “Legacy Hall” in Plano Texas.
Guns is on a summer tour with his band L.A. Guns who are supporting Tom Keifer Band with Faster Pussycat as openers.
The group’s founder, lead guitarist and chief song-writer says it’s too hot in the venue and he has an issue with that.
Guns who admits he has a panic disorder, says he has it mostly under control but the heat is a contributing factor to his condition.
So the band’s bassist Johnny Martin has figured out a way around the heat problem for tonight’s gig.
Simply put, Guns will play in the air-conditioned toilet back-stage while the rest of L.A. Guns perform on stage.
This gives a whole new meaning to L.A. Guns songs like “Rip & Tear.”
Now for all of you who might be asking, “Are you serious?”
Well, we can’t be entirely sure… just yet, but according to Guns’ posts this seems to be the case.
Guns wrote on his official Facebook earlier today: “So we have a unique situation. A lot of people know I have a panic disorder. While I have it 95 percent under control, Heat is the remaining trigger and I simply cannot play in the heat . BUT!!! We have found a solution for todays show I will be playing in a comfy bathroom directly behind the stage where there is air conditioning . I will do an Instagram live stream during the set if y’all really need to watch me play. I apologize for my crazy brain. “
According to online weather information it is currently 100 degrees in Plano Texas, with high humidity that makes it feel even hotter… the iPhone says it’s 105 out.
Martin chimed in on our social media post about the L.A. Guns situation with: “So … Regarding the Tracii thingy thing … It was actually my idea. Tracii wasn’t gonna play the show at all. Because his anxiety is still pretty prevalent. He said to me (earlier today) that he wasn’t going to do the show, because the heat was just too unbearable to his condition. And that we’ll just have Ace cover his parts. So, basically, us play as a four piece. So …. I proposed that we find an air conditioned spot near the stage. And … VOILA! … Here we are. Much better than him opting out, all together. I’M A F**KING GENIUS!”
Guns and Martin are joined by classic era lead vocalist Phil Lewis, guitarist Ace Von Johnson and Shawn Duncan (drums).
In a few hours time, we shall see if L.A. Guns takes the stage as a 4-piece, sans Guns.
Stay tuned for updates and videos as they become available.
