“Ratt’s always crushed Mötley musically. They got more press, movie stars, explicit sex, murders and shit. Always in the magazines.” — Bobby Blotzer on Mötley Crüe

Metal Sludge — In a new interview on the This, That & The Other podcast rock drummer Bobby Blotzer has blasted a few of his contemporaries this past week.

Blotzer was interviewed by Troy Patrick Farrell on Dirty Radio Classics and discussed a potpourri of subjects including Mötley Crüe and producer Beau Hill.

Blotzer also spoke at length about the band (Ratt) he played drums in for decades until the 3 surviving classic era members (Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini and Juan Croucier) unanimously voted him out of the group in November 2016.

While Blotzer sounds less aggressive than in past interviews, he couldn’t help himself from throwing a few choice daggers into the air.

Blotzer on producer Beau Hill: “Blow Hill is disliked by everybody in Ratt, everybody in all of the big bands. All of these bands, they couldn’t stand him. He’s a dictator.”

Blotzer may have been reacting to an an early 2022 article where Metal Sludge shared snippets from a Beau Hill interview as heard on the Full In-Bloom Music show.

Hill on working with Blotzer while recording with Ratt: “Very difficult, very difficult. He was, out of everybody, he was the one that was always the hardest to please. Something was not right, with just about everything. And ah, yeah, he was my least favorite guy to spend any time with.”

Blotzer was also asked about about Mötley Crüe on TT&TO: “Ratt’s always crushed Motley musically. They got more press, movie stars, explicit sex, murders and shit. Always in the magazines.”

Blotzer then talked about the band’s late guitarist Robbin “King” Crosby and tells Farrell what Crosby might say if he were alive today and seeing how things have went down over recent years in the Ratt camp: “I mean dude, you’re sitting on your ass. You wanna make some money and make the fans happy? We owe it to the fans. We owe it to ourselves.”

Blotzer added: “I love Robbin, I miss him.”

The interview also covered the possibility of a reunion with Ratt, who Blotzer would want to see play in that second guitar slot and how a bigger management company has been talking to the group about trying to get everyone on the same page to move forward.

Blotzer also shares some thoughts on how The Atlantic Years package of Ratt limited edition vinyl was put together with various members contributing along the way.

The immediate reaction to some of what Blotzer said in the TT&TO interview has already caused some misunderstanding and now the former Ratt drummer has already issued a disclaimer of sorts.

Blotzer shared a statement on social media that seems to be walking back some of this comments. (see below).
