June 30th 2026 — A brand new episode of Get On The Bus has just hit Youtube and their guest is Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen.
Collen sits down and shares a ton of interesting history which goes back to the late 70’s when he was first playing in the rock band GIRL that also featured Phil Lewis of L.A. Guns.
Collen who was born in Hackney, London shares tidbits when GIRL toured with Ozzy Osbourne and notes at the time the group featured the classic lineup of; Randy Rhoads, Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge.
Collen then tells listeners how he went to school with Paul Di’Anno and that he almost joined Iron Maiden.
Other subjects include; Bon Scott of AC/DC singing Happy Birthday to Def Leppard‘s drummer Rick Allen on his 16th birthday and working with Producer extraordinaire Mutt Lange.
Phil also shows his excitement when he details experiences with both Ritchie Blackmore and meeting Eddie Van Halen whom showed him how to make his guitar sound better.
