Metal Sludge — Rock drummer Scott Rockenfield has posted some choice words on his official Facebook today about Queensryche and the group’s current and former singer.

Rockenfield who is a founding member of the group dating back to 1982, has taken to social media with a pair of rants aimed at both Todd La Torre and Geoff Tate.

The first post was directed at the current frontman La Torre.

Classic Queensryche lineup “Rage For Order” era 1986
L-R: Chris DeGarmo (Guitars), Geoff Tate (Vocals), Eddie Jackson (Bass), Scott Rockenfield (Drums) and Michael Wilton (Guitars)

Rockenfield writes: “just a little bit for clarity here… Subject: Todd La Torre (subcontractor – Queensryche) Topic: For the record let it be known that “any and all opinions, viewpoints, statements, and/or comments etc etc, that continue to be presented by Mr La Torre (whether it be past/present and/or future) are in no way to be considered as representing the expressed beliefs, opinions, and/or viewpoints of any of the Queensryche brands, trademarks, and/or various QR corporations that have been in place for over 40 years……”period….” (see screen capture below)

Shortly after, Rockenfield posted a second blog which was directed at former frontman Tate.

Rockenfield writes: “and, a little bit more for clarity–to set the record a bit more straight if you will… Subject: Geoff Tate (former QR singer)Topic: “Former QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate expressed his doubt that Rockenfield “will ever play drums again”…??? Tate Including— ”he has a lot of medical problems and things like that now.”??? …Tate also stating – “He’s in kind of a really dark place, and I hope he gets some help, ’cause he’s really unraveled, you know?””…??? etc etc…blah blah blah….Ok wow, how incredibly interesting right?? …(and most of you already figured this out) But, being that I have not seen, spoken too, or communicated with Tate for over 10 years now, those seem to be some pretty BOLD statements to be makin’ bout someone (that someone being me – ouchie…! as if spitting wasn’t enough lol !!).”

Rockenfield continues the Tate rant: “One would think that even just a “slightly educated” person should know that making such crazy statements about somebody is probably a bit of a no-no ???? ….… (and don’t get me wrong, I’m still smilin’… could all be an exciting gift in disguise from the Universe right ??…) …. Nonetheless, said former singer dude jussst might wanna take a step back and possibly reconsider those statements…??? other than all that, I suppose all I can say is – “I hope dude (tate) gets the help “he” needs”… “ (see screen capture below)

Rockenfield was active with Queensryche for 35 years up until 2017.

Wikipedia states: “In 2017 Rockenfield took a hiatus from Queensrÿche which was originally supposed to last for a few months but then prolonged indefinitely. Former singer Geoff Tate later expressed concern for Rockenfield, suggesting that he was in a difficult life situation and current singer Todd La Torre suggested it was unlikely Rockenfield would ever return to the band.”

Rockenfield also filed a lawsuit against his former band last October 2021.

Metal Sludge was the first to break this news with our article “OPERATION LAWSUIT & RUMORS … Scott Rockenfield ex-Queensryche drummer sues Eddie Jackson and Michael Wilton, reunion with Tate considered, La Torre on Thin Ice?”

Much like Ratt, L.A. Guns, Great White, Warrant and Skid Row, Queensryche seem to be stuck in a similar pattern of upset.

Ironically at some point all of the aforementioned were in on-going battles (some including legal actions and lawsuits) with their respective classic era singers.

L.A. Guns and Ratt however, seem to have righted their respective ships with the original voice, but some other positions in these groups continue to remain fluid.

Queensryche feature 2 of the core original classic era members in Michael Wilton (guitars) and Eddie Jackson (bass).

The current Queensryche 2022 lineup is completed by lead vocalist Todd La Torre (2012-Present), guitarist Mike Stone, who is in his 3rd tenure with the band and Casey Grillo on drums (2020-Present).

Stay tuned for more news on Queensryche.
