Metal Sludge — In a series of posts on social media, Danger Danger frontman Ted Poley has opened up about some of his personal family history.
Poley posted earlier today (Nov. 27th 2024) to share a message to his followers on Facebook.
The post comes on the 1 year anniversary of his Father’s passing according to Poley, and the singer shares some personal details about his life that he previously has not.
“My dad died exactly one year ago today. He was not my biggest fan. He left when I was about 15. He started a new family. He died a millionaire. He left everything to his new daughter. He left me nothing. He never told me he loved me. Not once, ever.” wrote Poley.
The singer continued; “If you have nice parents, please appreciate them, unfortunately, I did not have your experience.”
“Here’s a joke for you! What’s the difference between me and cancer? My dad beat me! ”
“RIP dad I loved you anyway. Better luck next time. “ added Poley.
The comments are in the hundreds and Poley has been interactive with fans as they comment.
One fan commented: “Oh my God, Ted…I had no idea.”
Poley replied with; “Nobody did. Mom wasn’t much better. In some ways worse . She is still around. She has changed a little bit but I was a stray. I was abused and I was thrown out.”
Poley added; “Never told anybody I guess today is a weird day for me, I am also autistic so let’s get it all out, he made me defective and then tapped out. That’s why I support the stray animals. There you go now you know. “
Poley announced he was on the verge of retiring back in late 2022 when he posted the following; “Announcing my final world tour! TED POLEY “ONE LAST LAP AROUND THE WORLD TOUR 2023”
Sleazeroxx shared the news in December of 2022 with Poley‘s Facebook post that read: “I’ve decided to go around this planet one more time to say thank you to everybody for making my dream come true and to sing our songs together one more time! Was hoping to be retired by now but of course the pandemic pushed me back a few years so let’s do this!”
Poley, who turns 63 on January 5th 2025 continues to perform, and has a few shows on the books for December, which we have shared below.
