LOS ANGELES, California — It appears that the rock n’ roll world now has 2 different Love/Hate bands vying for the crown.

Love/Hate Featuring Jon E Love will be happening on Saturday March 21st 2026 at the world-famous “Whisky-A-Go-Go” on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood California.

Love is a founding member of Love/Hate but hasn’t played with Jizzy Pearl or his version of the band in years.

Pearl as most know has been active using the name Love/Hate, or some variation of it for many years including releasing music and touring.

Now it appears, the band’s original guitarist Love (pictured at right) is staking his own claim of the band that ironically includes his last name.

Love has played a handful of West Coast shows in the recent year with his version and now it appears there are more to come in 2026 from the guitarist.

The last time we saw a similar battle was when L.A. Guns were in an on-going war between lead vocalist Phil Lewis and guitarist Tracii Guns. Both had versions of the band that had toured and recorded for years but, that all ended when the two sides decided to reunite in 2016.

Of course there was the third L.A. Guns that evolved when Steve Riley (drums) and Kelly Nickels (bass) launched their outfit but that hit a wall when Guns and Lewis filed a lawsuit against their ex-drummer... then ultimately that version ended with Riley‘s passing in 2023.

There were other band battles as well, including Great White and their former vocalist the late Jack Russell who were also competing for brand supremacy. Their situation, like L.A. Guns ended up in court as well, but similar to the aforementioned, Russell‘s version of Great White has now subsided with his passing in 2024.

Not forgetting some semblance of a competition had taken place over the years amongst artists like; Skid Row and their former frontman Sebastian Bach, Warrant and their late singer Jani Lane, in addition to Queensryche and their former lead voice Geoff Tate.

Going back a full 25 years, there was a point when Ratt went forward without Stephen Pearcy, and ironically they did so with the above mentioned Pearl as their frontman.

Now, it appears that Love/Hate just might be the next group to confuse fans and followers… whether they want to or not, that is what will happen if both versions of Love/Hate continue to go forward.

The band Love/Hate was initially called Data Clan back in the early/mid 80’s but in 1986 – according to the band‘s Wikipedia – the band took one of their songs “Love And Hate”, and essentially morphed that song title into the band’s new official band name.

The original Love/Hate lineup included; Jizzy Pearl (Vocals), Jon E Love (Guitars), Skid Rose (Bass) and Joey Gold (Drums) who signed to Columbia Records in 1988. The band then released a few albums but by 1992 guitarist Love opted to leave the band.

Fast forward into the 2000’s Pearl has been active with various lineups of his version of Love/Hate and along the way, some of these shows have included various original Love/Hate members… but usually for various 1-off shows or short tours. However, in recent years it’s pretty much been Pearl and a cast of hired-guns to fill out his live/studio roster.

Love has also recently announced that his version of the band will be playing a short set at the KNAC 40th Anniversary event also being held at the “Whisky” on Thursday January 8th 2026.

We’ll keep you posted as more Love/Hate news becomes available.
