July 10th 2026 — What was happening on the Sunset Strip 40 years ago… well if you check out the photos below it’ll give you a pretty good idea.
These amazing images are from SCRATCH magazine May 1986… a local zine that preceeded Rock City News, Hollywood Rocks, Screamer and the rest.
Ruben Blue was the magazine’s editor and lived it first-hand as he helped create and launch several publications into the heart of local scene… these DIY rags gave readers a glimpse inside of Hollywood’s clubs, parties and life-style.
Included here are images of Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler of Guns N’ Roses as they looked during their local hey-day.
Also included are pictures of Bret Michaels of Poison and Taime Downe of Faster Pussycat.
