The Foo Fighters could have performed for a sold out stadium, club or arena, but instead chose a farm with a Georgetown address, a Hornby postal code and a Milton phone number to play a full set on April 14.
The idea of organizing a North American tour exclusively inside the garages of eight die-hard fans kept to the theme of the Foos’ latest album, Wasting Light, which the band recorded in frontman Dave Grohl’s garage.
Nick Perry, a 29-year-old mega fan from Milton, Ont., told the band in 25 words why they should come to his house.
He included a picture of his barn garage and ended up winning the Toronto leg of the contest.

If the band performed at a venue or a radio station in Toronto, Perry was there. Before his hero Grohl ever left the city, he’d be intercepted by Perry and autographing an unusual item from the super fan’s extensive collection of Foo memorabilia.
“I would take these obscure CDs, singles, albums or whatever — stuff (Grohl) did when he was 18 years old (before he was the drummer in Nirvana) — and I would bring one to a concert every time,” Perry said.
When the Foo Fighters’ tour bus pulled into the rural property, Grohl “remembered me right off the bat.”
Before the Thursday afternoon showtime, Perry spent an hour hanging out with the band. He brought the musicians inside his house to pose for a photo with his family at the dinner table.
Grohl then drove Perry’s tractor into a deep puddle of mud.
The host of the secret concert presented his case to the Foo Fighters as to why he should join them onstage to play guitar during the concert.

The band told Perry they’d think about it.
As the garage was being set up, a guest list of 50 of Perry’s friends waited in town at the Thompson Arena parking lot before boarding a bus.
“Everybody’s energy was consistently rising the whole time in anticipation of it,” said 28-year-old Milton resident Christy Bell.
The group of friends were personally greeted by each member of the Foo Fighters when they got to the farm.
The show began and Perry was living a dream, enjoying live music with 50 of his closest friends.

“It really just felt like I was jamming with my friends,” Perry said. fjallraven kanken classic “But I would look behind me and there was the Foo Fighters and I’d look in front of me and there’s 50 of my friends all in awe and shock and cheering me on.”
After Perry and the Foo Fighters played Everlong, the band started leaving the stage.
But Perry wasn’t ready to stop rocking.
“They were about to wrap it up and I just kept playing my guitar. I broke into Big Me,” he said.
The band rushed back to their instruments for an encore.

“It was the craziest thing anyone could ever imagine. Dave Grohl just stepping away and letting me take his guitar and his microphone and letting me go at it with his band,” Perry said.

After the concert, Grohl and Perry stepped into the Foo Fighters’ tour bus to knock back shots. Perry then handed out CDs and outfitted his favourite band with T-shirts from his local band, Dead Celebrity.
“I would have froze everybody there, kept everyone there for weeks on end because it was a timeless point,” he said. “It’s basically like that girl you’ve been checking out for a long long time and you finally get a chance to be with her and it’s over in two seconds. adidas hamburg It’s exactly like that.”
Perry’s longtime friend said she noticed many of the girls in the audience were reduced to tears of joy.
