Metal Sludge — In a new interview with WRIF radio’s Virtual Rock Room, the guest is Skid Row co-founder, songwriter and bassist Rachel Bolan.
Bolan speaks with Meltdown from the Detroit based rock radio station and goes in-depth about the band’s short but fast history with Erik Grönwall.
Grönwall was named the new Skid Row singer just 2 weeks ago on March 22nd.
Bolan also reveals some amazing details, that the band had in fact, never even met Grönwall face-to-face until he landed in Las Vegas just 4 days before taking the stage with the band for their debut show together.
And as many know, that was not your ordinary show, as Skid Row are supporting Scorpions for their 9 date residency at “Zappos Theater” at Planet Hollywood.
Other revelations are, that the band sent Grönwall a recording with a basic guide vocal of their new song “The Gang’s All Here” and the Swedish born singer, sang the track, self-recorded it and returned the track in less than 24 hours.
Bolan on his initial thoughts after hearing Grönwall sing their song: “For not knowing someone, it was like, the dude (he) was in our head, with our vision of what the song was, and that’s no B.S. man. It really was, it came back, and Snake and I, we were laughing… you got to be kidding me. This is what we heard. This is what was going on in our heard. It just came together so fast, and here we are, and he’s almost done with the record. And we’re out with the, doing the Scrops residency as the kick-off of his first shows with us.”
Meltdown asks Bolan: “Did you have a plan B?”
“Not really…” says Bolan laughing.
Bolan heaps praise onto Grönwall for his abilities, his work ethic and shares his unbridled enthusiasm for their new frontman.
