“Living in L.A. or even in Las Vegas, you always hear about delusional musicians, you can kind of feel sorry for ’em, after-all they’re only hurting themselves… well… or, the girl they are mooching off of.”
— Jizzy Pearl – Love/Hate
LAS VEGAS, Nevada — In the latest episode on his JPearlTV Youtube channel, rock n’ roll veteran Jizzy Pearl talks about real record deals and the sins of the Sunset Strip.
Pearl is no stranger to the trials and tribulations of the cesspool we call the music industry and his latest vlog titled ‘SINS OF THE SUNSET STRIP!’ covers some of the aforementioned.
Pearl tackles the subject of musicians sinning, and talks about some of those who are simply put, bold-face liars.
While Pearl himself admits to some sins as a much younger man in his 20’s, he’s also stating there are those well into their later years who are still mooching off a girlfriend or bull-sh!tting anyone and everyone who will listen about their status in music.
Or, those who take advantage of the so-called, investor fans, making promises, but in the end, the rock star often fails to deliver what they originally promised.
The next subject Pearl hits head-on covers his views on the modern-day record deal, compared to those contracts or deals… as he notes the, “real record deals” of yesteryear.
Pearl talks about delusion, and how some musicians are, well… full of sh!t stating (transcribed by Metal Sludge); “Especially in 2025, where there are no record sales, or Billboard record charts. Talking about all this stuff in 2025 is just bull-sh!t.
“Thinking that you are convincing people that it’s still there, is bull-sh!t. If you think that you are going to get a record deal, a real record deal an old school record deal and you are in your 40’s, or good God, even in your 50’s, then you are just a fool. You’re delusional man. Sorry, I am talking old school record company deals, not the Golden Robot, or the Frontiers ones… those aren’t the same thing,” adds Pearl.
Pearl continues; “Living in L.A. or even in Las Vegas, you always hear about delusional musicians, you can kind of feel sorry for ’em, after-all they’re only hurting themselves… well… or, the girl they are mooching off of.”
Pearl, 67, just might be as good as any artist to speak on how a record deal works.
Pearl‘s original band Love/Hate were signed to Columbia Records as the 80’s decade came to a close, and the Hollywood based 4-piece released a pair of records in 1990 and 1992.
Over the next 30 years, Pearl worked with more than a dozen independent labels in the different projects he has fronted, and a quick glance at his recording history on Wikipedia proves that.
Ironically, the 2 labels he mentions in his vlog were Frontiers Music Group and Golden Robot Records, both of whom had signed and released solo records from the singer in 2018 and 2022 respectively.
So, we’re assuming Pearl is speaking from first-hand experience, rather than hearsay.
Either way, we encourage you to check out JPearlTV on Youtube and his latest vlogs.
