BRET MICHAELS: ‘C.C., BOBBY And Myself’ Are ‘Going To Have To Throw A Mega POISON Summer Bash’
Florida — During a brand new interview with Orlando, Florida’s News 13, POISON singer Bret Michaels was asked about the band’s upcoming tour, which is tentatively set to kick off next year. “In 2015, we — as POISON — I’m thinking — not officially going on record, but rumoring — I’m going to say probably after Memorial Day weekend. I’m just thinking of reuniting all of the original — ’cause we can’t go out with all of the original guys. It’s gotta be C.C. [DeVille, guitar], Bobby [Dall, bass] and myself and I think we’re going to have to throw a mega POISON summer bash together next year.”
POISON drummer Rikki Rockett recently said that he “hasn’t heard anything” about a pending tour for the veteran hard rockers, despite Michaels‘ suggestion to the contrary. “Well, I don’t really know what the reality of that is, quite honestly,” Rikki said during an interview with 14-year-old radio host Miles “The Shoe” Schuman. “Bret says a lot of things.”
He added: “I’m not gonna say if it will happen or won’t happen, because I really don’t know. Nobody’s given me any indication that there’s a tour at all.
“I don’t know why [Bret] said what he said. Nobody’s sat down with me and said, ‘There’s a pending tour here. What do you think about that?’ I haven’t heard anything about that. So the reality is, at this point in time, right now, as I sit here talking to you, there is not a POISON tour. That doesn’t mean there couldn’t be one. But I’m just saying that I haven’t had a contract come across my table. I didn’t get the text. I didn’t get the memo on that one. [Laughs].’
Asked if he is normally kept “in the loop” about POISON‘s touring plans as they are being mapped out or if he is only told about them once they have been finalized, Rockett said: “I mean, I can say no to it, of course. There’s quite a bit of planning involved in something like that; there’s a ridiculous amount of planning, actually. So, I just really don’t know what to say about it. Bret said this in the media, but it’s not like he called me and said it to me, you know what I mean?! So I don’t know that there’s any reality to it at this point in time.”
Rockett told the “Iron City Rocks” podcast that POISON has been doing “corporate gigs for different companies, which are fun, and they pay very well. It gives us a chance to all get together and play. And, in fact, we have one in October and we have one in January [2015]. But they are the only shows that POISON is doing this year; we are not doing a tour this year. There is a few things that are being thrown around right now by our management for next spring, and we’ll just have to see.”
Rockett took to Twitter in February 2014 to complain that POISON couldn’t hit the road this summer because a certain member of the glam-metal act was “making it a problem.”
POISON last toured the U.S. in 2012 as part of the “Rock Of Ages” package with DEF LEPPARD and LITA FORD.
