FARGO, North Dakota — It’s safe to say that we’ve all seen, heard or read a Top Ten List.
Whether you read it in a magazine, saw it online or watched the host read them off on the Late Night with David Letterman show back in the day, we’ve all experienced the always fun and entertaining Top Ten List.
Even Metal Sludge have published a ton of these lists over the years, and we’ll drop a few of those oldies at the bottom of this post – but full disclosure – some of these are so old, that the images have turned into a RED X and parts of the old articles look like they contracted some internet STD’s along the way.
Anyway… now that we’ve got your attention, we’re here to share a more modern variation done Vlog style with a small round-table of sorts that features our friend The Hair Metal Guru and a few of his cronies.
These guys have been slinging their views on this Hair Metal Guru channel for a few years since it launched in the summer of 2023… and it seems they’ve started to gather a nice little following of 80’s Rock fans and Hair Metal supporters, so if you haven’t already subscribed, we think it’s worth checking out.
Now we’re not going to give it all away, but we will tell you that there are 4 people in today’s episode including; Anthony Bryant pka The Hair Metal Guru, his main side-kick Colonel Patrick, along with another regular Ryan Van Kaathoven (aka RVK for short) and Matt Stone from Arizona.

We can tell you that all of these guys do agree that “Brandon” by Tommy Lee is the absolute Worst Ballad of all time and since they all are thinking alike here, they did not include this abysmal piece of music into their lists.
With that… we’re going to give you a few sneak peak tidbits, and we can confirm that each of the guys have a list of their Top 5 worst ballads.
While there appears to be a few doubles, the guys pivot when someone steals their choice as they take turns sharing their list, from #5 up to their #1.
If you are a fan of the following bands, do not be shocked if they get called out for writing, recording and releasing an absolute horrible ballad.
