TROUBLE IN PARADISE … Phil Lewis reveals he recently considered quitting L.A. Guns but opted to stay since they had a new recording in the can

Metal Sludge — In a brand new interview with Phil Lewis the L.A. Guns singer has revealed some interesting inside scoop about the band’s recent inner turmoil.

Lewis recently spoke with Rockin’ Interviews and tells listeners he was on the verge of quitting the band as recent as December 2022.

The following transcription is courtesy of Sleazeroxx: “We’ve recently gone through a whole bunch of infrastructure changes, we’ve got new management. I was real fond of our old manager, he did a bit more than manage, he was very much an invisible member of the band. He was a big part of the reason that I had agreed to do the reunion. I had always said to Scotty (their former manager), ‘Don’t leave because if you leave, I’m leaving.’ Tracii and Scotty had been working together a lot longer than the reunion. Their relationship was kinda fried and it came to a head around December and Scotty quit. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to do it without Scotty. I live in Vegas and we had shows in Vegas. I said to Tracii, ‘I don’t know if I can be in this band without Scotty but we’ve got two shows coming up and if you get here we’ll do them and we’ll talk about it’. So they came and we did the shows and they sounded good and we had a great record in the can ready to go so I had to reconsider and take a little break. It’s okay. We’ve got a new manager, new record, everything’s fine, it was just a blip.”

“He (Scotty) was kind of a babysitter and we lost our babysitter. I don’t need a babysitter but other people do.”

Metal Sludge reached out to Phil Lewis directly, and he acknowledged the rough patch for L.A. Guns late last year.

“Yes, all true, but we have a new record about to drop and new infrastructure and new love is in the air so hopefully things will get back on track” says Lewis.
