Tracii Guns welcomes new singer for his L.A. Guns/Gunzo band
Facebook — A posting by Tracii Guns yesterday has announced the addition of new vocalist Michael O’Mara to the L.A. Guns/Gunzo project. Guns took to social networks to welcome their newest member.
The (Gunzo) project had been fronted by Keith St. John (Burning Rain, ex X-Drive) since their launch in spring.
Guns is a founding member of L.A. Guns and with the addition of Rudy Sarzo on bass to his ‘Tracii Guns’ L.A. Guns’ project, the band took on an alter identity of sorts with Gunzo.
Regardless of what the poster says, you get both Guns amd Sarzo, who each bring a storied music background to the table.
Sarzo has worked with everyone from Ozzy Osbourne to the late Kevin DuBrow (Quiet Riot) and David Coverdale (Whitesnake).
Guns is the original guitarist in Guns N’ Roses, but soon after the band formed bolted to form L.A. Guns.
O’Mara has a past of his own fronting several cover bands. The Chicago born singer fronted the Motley Crue tribute TRUE 2 CRUE and the Def Leppard tribute PYROMANIA. O’Mara who has a higher range voice also sings in ZEPIDEMIC that pays homage to music of Led Zepplin.
Guns himself doted “The man is a beast” about O’Mara as a singer. The 4-piece head to the UK in September for a 9 date tour.
Metal Sludge reported on March 1st 2015 that Guns and Sarzo had launched GUNZO and named Keith St. John as the band’s singer
St. John is currently promoting a Burning Rain show on September 4th according to his official Facebook.
GUNZO recently appeared at Cathouse Live with Keith St. John as the voice on August 15th. (See video below)
We dug up some of O’Mara’s work with his cover bands (see below) and he indeed can hit some notes.
