“That’s a joke!”
— Johnny Dee on Britny Fox lineup with zero classic members
MS NEWS / April 30th 2026 — In a new interview at Full In Bloom Music rock drummer extraordinaire Johnny Dee is the guest.
Dee has a resume that goes back 40+ years and includes stints in World War III, Waysted, Britny Fox and Doro.
Now in a recent interview with FIBM the subject of Britny Fox has made headlines as Dee seems to have blasted the 4 no-names who are out performing as that same band – Britny Fox – that he was a classic member of in their heyday.
“”We have Four F****** Guys as Britny Fox who have Absolutely Zero to do with Anything,” said Dee in the Full In Bloom interview then added, “That’s a joke!”
As most readers know, the initial core of Britny Fox was formed after Michael-Kelly Smith (guitarist) and Tony “Stix” Destra (drums) were both let go from Cinderella when Tom Keifer and Eric Brittingham signed a deal with Mercury/Polygram Records in 1985.
Smith and Destra then formed Britny Fox with ‘Dizzy’ Dean Davidson (vocals, guitar) and Billy Childs (bass).
Sadly Destra was killed in a car accident in early 1987 which eventually lead to Dee being brought on board to play drums in Britny Fox who ultimately signed a record deal with Columbia Records releasing the band’s debut in June of 1988.
That Britny Fox debut record went Gold and the band recorded their follow-up “Boys In Heat” which was released in December of 1989 but the band hit some hard times when frontman Davidson quit the band mid-tour in April of 1990.
Britny Fox did replace Davidson with Tommy Paris, and found themselves a new label with East West Records releasing “Bite Down Hard” in 1991 but by 1992 the band called it quits until a reunion of sorts took place in 2000-2003.
Over the past 20+ years there have been a few starts and stops with varied lineups, which have mostly included Billy Childs on bass as the lone core classic member… there was another run in 2015-2016 that included Paris and Dee, but Smith has been absent since leaving the group in 2003.
Dee however has forged ahead as part of Doro Pesch‘s solo group for more than 30 years since the demise of Britny Fox and has appeared on 10 releases combining both studio and live efforts.
Dee‘s interview can be found at Full In Bloom Music, which can be found on Youtube and Patreon.
