A Tribute to our Fallen Metal Heroes

Hey Everyone,

After the tragic event that took place on December 8th in Columbus, Ohio, I was questioning as to why this happened. I also thought long and hard about all of the simple things in life that many of us sometimes take for granted, myself included. Then a few weeks later, the Tsunami disaster hit and again reminded all of us how fragile life really is. Then there has been the ongoing War over in Iraq. For me, thinking about these things really puts life into perspective.

Sometime just before Christmas I heard ?It?s Been A While? by Staind on the radio. I?ve always loved that song and found myself singing it and suddenly the light bulb went on. I was thinking about the Dimebag incident and the song struck me as a ‘healing’ type of song. Within minutes, I started to write an idea around this song. The lyrics below, I believe, speak for themselves.

I?d like to acknowledge, with respect and honor, all of the Metal Heroes who have somehow influenced this idea. I?d also like to mention that there are many other Metal Heroes who are also thought of, and missed dearly, but I was not able to include every single name in this short piece. Dave Prichard of Armored Saint, Derek Frigo of Enuff Z?Nuff, and Paul Baloff of Exodus come to mind. These are all Metal Heroes, and they will live forever.

I would like to thank the group Staind for their influence, Priddis Music Company, Earthtone Sounds, & Man Alive Music for helping to create and orchestrate this song with me.

This tribute song is for free. I want all of you to download it, share it, pass it on to others and spread the word. I encourage any and all Internet radio, along with stations Worldwide to play this song in support of the message. The message is that these names will not be forgotten, and the Metal Flame will be carried onward. There is no need for an artist to be credited, and if need be, make it "the Metal Heroes" ? as they deserve all credit.

In closing, I would like to bow my head in prayer and say to all of music and metal’s greatest Heroes, from the superstars to local bands ? we will never forget your names, faces or music. You all touched and influenced our great musical family and helped to shape it throughout the years.

I am very proud to be a part of our Metal family, a family which these great men contributed greatly to. I was friends with some of them; I toured with some of them, and watched many from the audience as a fan.

P.S. Who has the capabilities to put the video clips together to make a greater tribute showing these Metal Heroes in action?

With respect & honor,

Stevie Rachelle

?It?s Been A While? (Metal Heroes)

There is an old saying, that only the good die young; I believe that to be true.
This is dedicated to our Metal Heroes. We miss you all. Rest in Peace.

And it’s been a while
Since we heard, Randy playin? Dee
And it’s been a while
Since Robin Crosby
And it’s been a while
Since Steve Clark left, or posed for a Photograph
And it’s been a while
Since we lost Tim and Ty and Dimebag

But all your faces we?ll remember
No we won?t forget your names
Our Metal Heroes live forever
We will carry on the flame

And it’s been a while
Since we heard Bon sing, Ray, Dave, Lynn or Layne
And it’s been a while
Since we watched Eric Carr raise up his hand
And it’s been a while
Since they?re gone, we won?t forget, just what they loved to do
And it’s been a while
But all that pain seems to disappear when we hear you

And all your songs we will remember
We will not forget your names (No)
Our Metal Brothers you?re forever
And we will carry on the flame

We?ll carry on the flame
We?ll say your names and pray
We?ll meet again someday

And it’s been a while
Since we watched Randy, Castillo take the stage
And it’s been a while
Since we watched Razzle, do the same
And it’s been a while
Since we saw Cliff play, a Rickenbacker bass
And it’s been a while
But we can still remember the smile on his face

And all your songs we will remember
We will not forget your names (No)
Our Metal Heroes live forever
And we will carry on the flame

And it’s been a while
But we will, say your names and pray
And it’s been a while
We?ll meet again someday.
