Bassist Nikki Sixx promises a new production “unlike anything you’ve ever seen Mötley Crüe do.”

The veteran metal band will return to The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for a dozen shows Sept. 18 through Oct. 6.
The Crüe first pitched camp there in February 2012 with a sold-out run of 12 concerts featuring pyrotechnics, aerialists, special effects, vixens galore and tons of hits from a catalog stretching back to the band’s formation in 1981.
“As a band, it has always been our goal to push our own envelope and evolve with everything we do,” bassist Nikki Sixx told USA TODAY. “Pioneering the Las Vegas rock residency last year was one of those great opportunities. We’re very excited to return in September, and this year we’ll take it over the top with a brand new show that will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen Mötley Crüe do before.”
The residency announcement comes on the heels of Sixx’s recent disclosure that the band will call it quits after an upcoming album and farewell tour.
For now, Sixx, singer Vince Neil, guitarist Mick Mars and drummer Tommy Lee are crafting a new production, customized for The Joint and designed in partnership with AEG Live, and fans again can expect a trove of Crüe classics including Girls, Girls, Girls, Dr. Feelgood, Shout at the Devil, Smokin’ in the Boys Room, Kickstart My Heart, Looks That Kill and Home Sweet Home.
“It worked fabulously the first time and we’re very happy to welcome them back,” says Paul Davis, vice president of entertainment at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Noting that visitors will sense a Crüe vibe throughout the hotel and casino, he said, “Fans really responded to the concept of the full takeover. It’s not just a normal concert in The Joint. You couldn’t come here without the feeling that the band had taken over the whole property for a month.”
That means everything from Crüe menu specials to staff members sporting band T-shirts.
Last year, Crüe fans “came from all over the country,” Davis says. “It wasn’t just the typical Vegas and Southern California crowd. That shows the strength and depth of the fan base.”
The bonus for fans? It’s Sin City, baby.
“They get to make a weekend out of it,” Davis says.
