As the old saying goes, the show must go on, and that’s something renowned guitarist Keri Kelli takes to heart.
Kelli, playing with a top-notch all-star jam band called Project Rock earlier this summer, cut his palm severely on the very first note of “Neon Nights,”but even though the Californian was bleeding all over the place, he never missed a note.
His hand a gory mess, Kelli’s Gibson guitar was soon a Cardinal red, but the band played on, and he was the only guitar player.

“It was ROCK. There was blood everywhere. It was insane,” Kelli said. “But we couldn’t stop because all this happened right out of the gate.
Kelli asked a tech for help, but all the assistant could do was shrug. Eventually, Kelli wrapped his hand with duct tape and forged on.
“I probably should have gotten stitches but I never did,” Kelli said.
Through the years Kelli has played with everyone from Vince Neil to Slash to Alice Cooper and now John Waite. Project Rock is an all-star featuring something refreshing: actual all-stars as opposed to other outfits – without naming names – that use the term loosely.

Here is a capsule look the other members:
Ripper Owens of Judas Priest is the singer. His life story formed the basis for the movie “Rock Star,” and he played big role in putting the whole project together. He also fronts Dio’s Disciples.
Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot) plays bass. He has performing in huge arenas for decades. “His name is synonymous with “rock and roll,” Kelli said.
Teddy “Zig Zag” Andreadis plays best. He was a backing musician on stage for Guns N’ Roses for five years beginning in 1990, so there are few pianists with more stripes.
James Kottack plays drums. He has been a member of Scorpions for 18 years – the longest stretch for any drummer in the history of the superstar band from Germany – and Kottack, whose roots include being a founding member of Kingdom Come, is roundly considered among America’s best stickmen.
