Great White — Another one bites the dust! Jack Russell is cleaning house and as swift as he replaced his recent ‘hired gun’ bassist Dario Seixas with a classic member in Tony Montana it appears he’s now axed an axeman.
The rumor on the street is that Matthew Johnson was treading on thin ice for a while and now the ice has officially broke. Matt has been an auxilary player doing the role that Michael Lardie does in the ‘other’ Great White playing both guitar and keyboards.
According to the Great White wikepedia this was Johnson’s second stint with Great White. Matt is noted as a touring member from 2000-2001 and again 2011-present with Jack Russell’s Great White.
Is it just a rumor or fact? Soon we’ll find out but with a little research here is what we found.
Great White featuring Jack Russell played their last show Sunday nite and Matthew played. But, the band now has 4 off days and starts up at Sturgis this Thursday August 8th. For the list of tour dates check out the Metal Sludge article HERE
According to Matthew’s official Facebooksomeone posted the following message just yesterday. It appears to be a ‘It’s all good my friend’ type message of comfort.
Russell is in the middle of a 40 date North American tour and has recently settled his long standing legal battle with his former band mates.
Oddly and ironically, someone posted the following on Jack Russell’s Facebook just yesterday the same.
Sounds like Jack really is back – and might be cracking the whip on some of the ‘hired guns’ and taking back control of his band and brand name.
