Florida prosecutors drop domestic violence charges against former Anthrax guitarist Dan Spitz.
WEST PALM BEACH — Dan Spitz, lead guitarist of the heavy metal band Anthrax, will not be prosecuted for his Christmas morning arrest on a domestic violence charge at home in Lake Worth, Gossip Extra has learned.
The victim, his wife Candi, 38, asked the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s office not to go after her husband and told them there were minor discrepancies on the incident report.
Prosecutors agreed they couldn’t take the 50-year-old axman to trial without their star witness.
It was yet another Gossip Extra scoop: Candi told us the day after the arrest that she would ask that the case be dropped.
According to law enforcement records, the arrest came as the husband and wife argued hours before their seven-year-old twins were to open their Christmas presents at home.
Candi admitted that both she and Dan had a drink or two but she denied that he hit her.
She blamed the dustup on pressures at home, including the fact they are raising twins who are autistic.
