“Hey, let’s have Death to all Brown sand jiiggs!!!? How about that??”
— Bobby Blotzer
Metal Sludge — What can one say, other than… wow!
Former Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer has posted a rather explosive comment on his official Facebook late last night or early this morning, and the content is harsh.
Blotzer writes; “Hey, let’s have Death to all Brown sand jiggs!!!? How about that??”
We’re not sure exactly who Blotzer was directing this comment at, but it’s safe to say that the words used go well beyond mean spirited or teasing.
Wishing “Death” upon anyone is never a good thing and lumping an entire race or group of people into a statement such as this, is one that is down right ugly.
It appears the comment is more than 14 hours old, and it’s still live as of this posting.
There are upwards of 100 comments, and the vast majority seem to be disappointed in the drummer’s choice of words here.
Some comments are flat-out calling him ‘racist‘, ‘a garbage human‘ and saying things like ‘no wonder there is no Ratt reunion‘.
In a basic Google search, the word ‘jig’ or ‘jigg’ is defined as follows; “jig” as a racial slur for an African American.”
Blotzer has been polarizing none-the-less for much of his career, and especially in recent years when he was kicked out of Ratt back in November 2016.
In our Metal Sludge article ‘YOU’RE FIRED! Pearcy, DeMartini and Croucier take control and Blotzer is expelled from Ratt‘ the drummer was released from his position in the group after he took the band’s name and slapped it on his cover band’s back-drop and bass drum heads.
The drummer then toured as Ratt, with no other classic or original members resulting in a cascade of legal action and lawsuits from the others.
The statement from the band after some of the dust settled in the way of legal battles reads in part: “Blotzer relabeled his cover band as RATT over the objection of every other member of the band and then proceeded to get into litigation with each of his 3 partners in an effort to usurp control of the RATT name, claiming that WBS owned the RATT name and he controlled WBS..”
The band Ratt have went through various changes in the years since, but Blotzer seemed to have made up and become friendly again with singer and founder Stephen Pearcy.
The singer and drummer combo became friendly enough that Pearcy invited Blotzer to jam with him during a solo performance in February of 2021 at the world famous ‘Whisky-A-Go-Go‘ on Sunset Strip.
Since these legal battles the band have yet to take the stage with the 4 core classic members.
The classic Ratt lineup consisted of; Stephen Pearcy (vocals) Warren DeMartini (guitars), Juan Croucier (bass) and Blotzer (drums) who are all still with us, while Robbin ‘King’ Crosby (guitars) passed away back in 2002.
There have been countless rumors and speculation that at some point an official ‘reunion’ just might happen but no official word as of yet.
